I have seen lots of pan-European GfK data points which agree with this assumption...it's not a phenomenon present exclusively in Chartz estimates...it's an actual fact. PS4 far exceeds Xbox One in pretty much all European countries.

Xbox One is a decidedly niche system. Going from a market leader to a niche system is a much more staggering decline for Microsoft because they aren't nearly as invested into the video game business as Nintendo is....they can afford to discontinue their video gaming division tomorrow and still thrive as a company. That makes it even more important for Xbox products to do well....when they're not doing well like this, I fear for the future of Xbox as a platform.

Yep, Sony is king when it comes to console gaming in Europe.

I think we will see other regions such as Middle East, Asia, and Latin American be part of the core PS4 market as these developing countries advance and start to buy luxury goods like consoles more frequently. PlayStation really focuses on marketing globally instead of being centric to one country

uc4 did 879k with bundles isn't bad. I thought it would do better than Halo 5 because of install base and all but nonetheless good sales.

PS4 doesn't have a big lead over Xbox One in US. Short of 2 million lead. It would be tough ask for Uncharted to beat Halo in its strongest territory. It's actually crazy to think that you can say Uncharted could beat Halo in the USA without getting laughed at

Well Halo when you look at the install base for the xbox one when halo launched compared to the ps4 when uncharted launched its over a 5ml lead for the ps4. It's not crazy to think that Uncharted could outsell Halo in the US considering that it had the biggest marketing than any other uncharted game and the install base is over 5ml lead when it launched compared to the launch of Halo.

"beat Halo"

Beating Halo 3 and beating Halo 5 are two very, very different things

I am sure everyone is aware of that Mazzy the point Sword was making is that it was indeed crazy to ever think or say something like this US or globally. Because that is just how big Halo is/was. And it really speaks of the growth of the Uncharted franchise which is very impressive and a very good thing.

Also another interesting thing ZhugeEX said:

"New software released in May made up 51% of total software sales."

This is emblematic of the current state of the retail industry. Everything at retail is focused on the latest and greatest....catalog sales continue to weaken as the years go by.

This isn't good news for companies like Nintendo who base their entire business plan around building a catalog that sells-through throughout the entire generation.

That fact is the result of Nintendo hardware doing badly, not a reason for Nintendo to worry about the future. All it takes for that trend to reverse is that Nintendo's next generation hardware has stronger monthly sales which will inevitably result in higher sales of older Nintendo games which in turn will improve the slice of total software sales.

Likewise, your Pokken fact is a cause of the same issue. So the game sold less than 35k units in its third month, but that number is higher than Wii U hardware sales for the same month. How many 3+ months old games manage to do that? My guess is hardly any.

Yeah, Nintendo just needs to catch lightning in a bottle again, no biggie. And if they fail, well they'll just have record low sales, but eh, no problem for Nintendo.

Jesus, 25k for an entire month.
I read that 29k was the lowest month in July 2013 or so.
And worst things are going to come in the next months with only 800k expected for a full year worldwide.

Essentially, Nintendo isn't manufacturing any more Wii U in any significant capacity.

They have approximately $150 million worth of Wii U inventory at the end of March....valued at an average selling price to retailers of $220 per unit, that's approximately 700K Wii U units they have in inventory to sell-through.

That extra 100K to make up the 800K projections is for the tiny bit of Wii U manufacturing they've done since then just to round out the fiscal year.

But the point behind the 800K is that by March 2017 they will have essentially depleted their Wii U inventory so they can hit the ground running with NX without taking write-off losses which would significantly impact profitability.

So, majority of the forecast is already in inventory?
