Of course I might be looking too much into to this and this could be like you said Nintendo referencing their own games, but at the same time why would they use #MK8 when they could just use #MK64 or #MK7 or why did they even use the N64 version of this track when the could use the MK7 version, it could be advertisement for MK8 but why use a track that is not in the game and not only is MK64 on VC but a 20% discount for MK7 is a reward on My Nintendo.

witcher 3 and mario kart 8 dlcs are amazing
scince this was posted in multiple nintendo accounts (europe account, germany account) i think its very safe to say it hints a new mario kart 8 dlc including the shown track.
With the low software output they have for wii u the second half 2016 a new mk8 dlc is a great and very easy way to satisfy wii u owners and earn money.
Im just curios what this will mean for mario kart nx, will probl get released later in its lifecycle if they ware still working on mk8.

Obviously the track "Kalimari Deser" from mario kart 64 will be part of the new dlc for mario kart 8.
