Forums - Gaming - How can each of the big 3 improve?

I would say Sony and Microsoft should drop the mandatory fee for online multiplayer, but they make too much money out of it and people seem to accept it, so they won't do it any time soon.

Nintendo's problems are different: recovering the trust of 3rd parties, bringing people back to Nintendo platforms, getting more studios or better ways to improve their software output...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I personally think that Sony and Microsoft should remove the paywall to use online fesatures in many games, such as multiplayers.I think thats unacepptable.I mean, you bought the game, and you already pay for your internet bills. Why should you pay to be able to use the online features of a game that you own, and that you already pay for the internet use?Dont get me wrong, PS Plus and XBox Live is already worth the money(most of the time) for the games they give, but blocking online is wrong.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Oh man, that would require an essay. I'll put some thought into it.

Nintendo needs to go back to making conventional consoles and they need to regain the full support of third parties.

MS needs to step their first-party efforts. For years they've been coasting by with Halo, Forza, Fable, and now Gears. They rarely release anything that doesn't belong to one of those franchises. They've spent too much money and effort in trying to buy exclusivity rights to third-party games at the expense of their own in-house development, which means that most of the many IPs they own are left to collect dust. With just three main IPs forming the bulk of their first-party output, it makes Xbox a rather redundant console brand.

Sony is doing fine, though I think they need to reactivate a couple of their older IPs.

My thoughts exactly.

Microsoft: Games, games, games. MS's consoles are great but the games library SUCK SO INCREDIBLY OMG I JUST CANT BELIEVE IT. Exclusive games like Halo and Gears no longer draw the same audience they used to, and there's really no variety to look for in XOne.

Nintendo: "It would be awesome to have a console that can play all the Nintendo games plus the multiplatforms like Witcher, MGS, Dark Souls, etc". For me, that's just it. Get a console decent enough to support third party games. Besides that it becomes a matter of quality check for their own games because they can't allow stuff like SFZERO to continue. Also, make a big-scale 3D Pokemon game.

Sony: Buy Konami and give us Suikoden.

Besides all that, no charge for online multiplayer and get some seriously bigger virtual console gallery. It's incredible how they all suck.

They can unite and sell all games at -85% at all times.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Sony: better online, more new IP

Nintendo: less droughts, less gimmicky controls

MS: can't think of anything they can do better tbh

Nintendo needs to change their PR & Marketing department as soon as possible. It has been a mess since the last years of the Wii.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Sony - stop sitting on that pile of great IPs and put some of them to work! Seriously, this is simultaneously a strong point but also their Achilles heel. They need to find a balance in creating new IP while maintaining their existing portfolio.

Nintendo - the innovation you want to bring every generation is fantastic. It has moved the industry forward numerous times. The problem is, sometimes your innovations are too 'out there' and show a disconnect from your core user base. Release a console, and innovate slightly each gen. Small steps, but don't fix what isn't broken.

MS - I just can't fathom the market being better off with you ever leading the pack, at least not with what we've seen and had glimpses of. I think you should exit console hardware, focus your efforts as a software developer and go 3rd party/multiplat. You can reap the most profits this way, reach a much wider audience and not have to worry about whether or not the Xbox division is profitable. Everyone wins.

I thought this gen overall PS+ Online has been better than Xbox's.

Mine would be like:

Sony: PS1/PS2 emulation via cd/dvd.

Nintendo: please dont mess up the hardware side of your console, do a cheap controller.

MS: More game library diversity, get some more RPGs (basically just darksouls+witcher3 now).
