Never played one before. Though I will try Paragon when it comes out.

My understanding is that you can, albeit indirectly, so not in the way I described above. You can buy IP boosters which gives you more IP from playing, which can then be used to buy Runes. Is that not true? Also you can pay money to buy champs, which frees up IP to buy runes. It seems like there's the potential to infinitely argue about whether LoL is pay to win in any meaningful way. I guess it's wrong to say it's strongly pay to win, but it has pay to win elements. But the matter is simple with a game like Smite because there are no equivalents to Runes in Smite so there can never be any argument about pay to win. |
You can get all the runes and champions you need by leveling up to 30, which is when Ranked play happens. Sure you can spend money to buy champions just like in Smite. The argument for Pay to Win is similar to World of Warcraft, where you can buy an instant level 90. Which allows you gear up more classes faster and be more desirable to Guilds. But in strict gameplay these pay to win elements are largely irrelevant.

And while I have disliked MOBA's so very much in the past PARAGON is really, really good and reminds me much of split screen old school time splitter maps. What are your thoughts? |
Overwatch is not a MOBA, Play Heroes of the Storm and see the difference. Overwatch is whatever the hell Team Fortress and Titanfall are, and they are not MOBAs. I will say Overwatch has some MOBA elements in its game design but nothing more.

We call The Division a RPG, even Ubisoft state that the game is a RPG. |
Thats because the Division is an RPG.
So, Overwatch is a class-based FPS? Like Team Fortress?
When it comes to Moba, LoL still dominates followed by Dota 2 in online revenues last year.

I kind of grew tired of them.. I have played them since Aeon of Strike on Starcraft back in 98/99 and was pretty addicted through Dota Allstars to HoN and LoL a few years back. Dota 2 came in and sucked donkeys anus and pretty much sucked the life out the genre for me.
I am done with it but I had a good time with it for a good 10+ years.

If you think that Lol is Pay to win so you never played any of the Levelup games or a true Pay to win game.
Pay to win are games where you will never be able to purchase something that affect the Gameplay, Pulsefire Ezreal will affect the gameplay in what way ?, will it frighten you and make you play worse ?.
I Played Perfect World and this is a good example of Pay to win game.

I thought that Dota 2 and League of Legends were more close to each other, but the Difference is over 7x the revenue in favor of League of Legends.

I don't even know what MOBA means. And I don't care enough to google it.
