The Xbox Slim will likely give that system a decent boost, just going by last generation. Of course, that will also depend upon price, but it seems that Slim consoles lead to a lot of double-dipping. Unless Sony feels the need to slash the price of the ps4 (and I can't remember them ever doing that at E3, at least in the last decade or so, generally they announce price drops at Gamescom) it will probably stick where it is. 

Didn't they announce the PS3 slim and price drop at E3? 

I think both the Slim announcement (and subsequent drop to $299) and later drop to $249 were announced at Gamescom.
