Forums - General - Kid falls in gorilla pit- gorilla is shot to death

I think the tragic thing about all this is the gorilla's intention was to protect the kid from what he thought were aggressors which were the screaming people. I think if there's anything that could have been done, perhaps evacuating the area might have been the best decision. Perhaps the gorilla would not have been as protective as he was had the environment around him been more calm.

Instead of directing anger at a little kid and a mother, how about the zoo? Why is a 4 year old able to get into this I enclosure?

This is wrong in sooooooo many aspects. We have become a society that literally always needs to put the burden/blame on somebody else.

There is a reason there are less than a handful of cases of children falling into a gorilla exhibit like this in the last 50 years. The zoo clearly does not need to be doing anything more to prevent this, as their current method has only allowed something to happen a couple of times in recent history.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

So you're telling me the kid should of died or let the the animal do what it wants? We are the superior species and yes we decide the future of everything on the planet, that is how it is.A kid was in danger and a decision  sad but right one was made.

Saying something doesn't make it true...

So what animal species has dominion over humanity? Don't see how anyone can argue this one.

I would have told my kid to relax and I would expect the zoo staff to get the tranquilizers ready.

Most of all though I would be keeping a close eye on my kid. This sort of thing would have never happened to my kid I guarantee you.

Those parents were humans just like you and me and human errors can happen.

Humans errors can happen in china shops and things break, and they're held accountable.  Humans errors can happen on the road and someone is accidentally killed, and they're held accountable.  Same goes for this situation.

So... let me get this straight:

1) A bunch of teenagers who have never had a child or any major responsibility in their lives condemn a mother for not holding her child's hand every second of every day.

2) People who eat in KFC twice a week and had hundreds of fluffy animals killed in their name are going apesh*t (no pun intended) over an animal getting killed when an actual human life is in danger.

3) People who have absolutely no idea how gorillas behave, how tranquilizers work or how to properly act in a crisis berate people who have successfully saved a child's life and tell them how to do their job.

I feel for those ZOO workers who get spit on by ignorant masses of internet warriors who don't know anything about anything and still feel they have something to add to the conversation.

it's funny how people say we need signs and all that.

Guess it proves humans are FUCKING STUPID.

Looking at all the "no shit sherlock" facts we need to point out make me want to drink bleach.

Just recently someone sued snapchat. Why? Because they used the speed-checker thing on snapchat, tried to reach 100 km, and crashed into someone. you have to be the dumbest person in the world to do that. AND YOU SUE SNAPCHAT! God should've gone the extra yard and finished the person off.

I recall going to arcades and seeing signs saying don't put your tie/hair into the ticket-collecting slot. Well DUH! What else do you put in a TICKET.COLLECTING.SLOT?

My god are people dumb. Perhaps we should just throw humans into cages. Not like we're intelligent creatures or anything...

I realize the gorilla is an unfortunate mistake. Know what's irritating? The mother.

Listen, my mother let me run around like a maniac many times. However, if you manage to let your child to reach a gorilla pit, then you know something's wrong. i've done babysitting for long periods of time. I'm not dumb enough to let a kid get away for that long.

I also hate her post-incident update. "uhh, thank Jesus, hardeeheheheh". Stfu. Thank the people who saved your son as well.

Mother nature would say otherwise. We have superior egos. If humans went extinct, it would benefit the Earth more than any other species on the planet.
