Forums - Nintendo Discussion - PS4Neo + XBScorpio ... Is NX Screwed?

As long as the NX is on par with the original PS4, it should be fine power-wise. Nintendo consoles have never become successful on power alone. It's going to be 1st party software (and how this software compliments the "new concept") that will make or break the NX. Having a console that is on par with the PS4 and is easy to port software to will at least help ensure that 3rd parties have as little reason as possible not to support the NX. In my opinion, 3rd parties is the big reason for making the NX powerful, Nintendo games already look great on the Wii U and rendering more realistic Mario overalls will not do much for the appeal of Nintendo's first party titles.

Yep on that point you would be correct. But seeing that doing a PS4Neo and X1Scorpio version would only need a small scale down to fit on compatible PS4 and X1 instead of a compleate new version to run on NX that could make it a difficult step for NX. And from Iwata talk some months ago there is even the possibility that NX is weaker than PS4, and the difference is that it's a lot harder to ignore the market leader that puts a lot of 3rd party sales than to the newcomer from a platform that struggles to sell 3rd party.

wouldnt that same hold true if NX were as powerful as Neo/Scorpio?

Simple scale up/down from/to PS4/XBO & Neo/Scorpio being compared to completely new version for NX.

You were saying that NX being less powerful than Neo/Scorpio would be a problem for 3rd parties but are now agreeing that 3rd parties likely wont give strong support regardless so power really is not the issue.

it will depend on how much exotic their architeture is. But we know that for several generations 3rd party complained about the lack of power and hardship to port games to nintendo platforms.

No one can answer this question :)

My thinks are Nintendo could use Community Cloud

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_cloud

With this Strategy, Nintendo don't need to make a powerfull machine... Just need HC stay turn on all times...
For example:
NX HC have tegra X1, about 1 TFLOPS... If you connect 100 NXs in community cloud, they will offer 100 TFLOPS... But if each NX keep 10% of his power for the 99 others NX, that means each NX could receive untill 10% of 99 TFLOPS = 9,9 TFLOPS...
NX will have 1 TFLOPS in matérial and potentially 10TFLOPS with the cloud computing...

This is just a example, but in fact with the moderns networks, we can have a lot of power with software like cloud computing... And don't need big DATA CENTER...

And if all 100 try to game at the same time no one is able to run their game? How would you design a service that only 10% of users can use their console, or how would you code the game so that it autoset what is shown based on power available? And don't forget that internet isn't fast/reliable enough to have this really working.

If 100 NX is always turn on, you will always have a part not use and can share 100% of power,  à part use to looking at vidéo or use to looking at Web site,  à part playing small games and juste need 20 to 30 % of NX's power...

A console never be use at 100%,  my example is just a example,  in fact each NX in a Community Cloud could share varius %,  and it's not 100 NXs will be connect,  it's will be many millions NXs connect together.. With Community Cloud,  NX could multiplicate power 3 to 5 times easily... And could be help by Nintendo's DATA CENTER in Last case...

I think NX is reduced because of Neo and Scorpio. Slightly. If nintendo does go with a hybrid they will do well in-spite of new more powerful hardware from Sony and MS. But NX will be different enough to appeal to many people especially those wanting on the go as a bonus. Other than that scenario, (hybrid) could be they are in trouble but who really knows what they are actually planning? I think Sony has played things well and will be dominant till 2018-2019.

You addressed only the first part of my point... you can go from 10 NXs turned on and ony one person being able to game at a time or 10M and 1M being able to play... it still would be 10% of the time allowed to play and the other 90% not being able to play, that would be ludicrous.

The NX was supposed to be around the power range of the XB1 in its living room iteration, if I am not mistaken, it was screwed from the get go... now when the neo specs started to leak I was feeling the pain for nintendo, now with MSs system taking the spotlight specs wise... I wonder who is listening to Nintendo's song?

Will they pull off another wii? You can't predict that sort of thing, but if they don't have the specs mudding the water with some gimmick is their best bet!

I see some "collective cloud" delusions here, forget this, it works for torrents, but not for interactive anything... the xbox crouw went through this phase in the last 2 or 3 years... :-/

Cloud is possible... if you are basically only sending commands from your controller and receiving pixels... streaming, anything else isn't viable at the near future.
