The Order: 1886.

It was really amazing at what it tried to do but it wasn't the experience people expected.

bioshock infinite sold 11 million units.

Wow, you're right.  In that case 1) I take back what I said earlier :P, 2) the tracking on here is way, way, WAY off, 3) holy CRAP those legs, and 4) how freaking terrible was the management of this game's development that the game could be this successful and the studio STILL get tanked?

there was a lot more to the layoffs than just sales. infinite was after all the fastest selling bioshock, and even though the game took a lot of time to develop, it went on to sell 3.7 million in a relativly fast manner. i was reading on it the other day but didnt finish. from what i know it was a combination of a lot of things. AAA development and managment, costs, ken levines desire to work on a smaller team, among other things.

Both Shenmue games. They were some gems created with care and love, and while they had their flaws, ultimately they were a fun, memorable and loveable adventure affair. It is sad that it never got to meet Sega's sales expectations.

It just couldn't meet Sega expectations, it would have to have sold twice to every Dreamcast onwer by the time Shenmue released XP

Still could have been a huge franchise, but then Sega made the dumbass decision to put the series on XBox instead of PS2.  Instead of putting it on the console with a massive install base they put it on the one with a tiny install base that was almost nonexistant in Japan.

Why do people always blame Peter Moore for that? Sega of America does what Sega of Japan tells them to, not the other way around.

Because it was Peter Moore's decision to give the english version Shenmue rights to Microsoft.

I mean, I'm not complaining about Moore. But ultimately Shenmue 2 went to Xbox thanks to him, not Sega of Japan.

Wow, this is news to me too, I was under the impression (from VGChartz's numbers) that B:I sold poorly relative to its budget that this was why the studio was hit with layoffs. (Which always made me sad as I consider Infinite one of the best video games I have ever played)

Halo 5

I'm kidding, calm down.

What I meant to say is Okami.

Beyond Good and Evil. Okami. Blue Dragon. The Order... man, there are too many.

Uh, Fatal Frame, Dark Cloud, Brutal Legend, Radiata Stories, Lufia, Breath of Fire, Enslaved, 3D Dot Heroes, Prey...

This is requiring me to look through all my old games. Kind of feeling nostalgic.

the entire Yakuza series in the west especially considering how their open worlds and combat are much better then what most AAA publishers like Ubisoft put out.

Beyond Good & Evil: great platformer and was a victim of bad timing in terms of release schedule by Ubisoft. Highly regarded not until AFTER its release really

Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning. a flop when considering its large budget and a hugelyyyy underrated RPG. lots of choices and well thought out quests
