Best JRPG of the seventh is Pokemon Black/White. Alongside the original Gold/Silver, my favourite game ever.

Gosh.. something memorable from last gen...
I enjoyed Nier, Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal sonata and Demon Souls although I would never consider the latter a Jrpg.
Besides that... i honestly don't know. Star Ocean, Resonance of fate, FFXIII and the likes just didn't hook me.
It is safe to say that for me last gen ruined Jrpg's and the way i used to enjoy them.

I think you're probably one of the very few people that like that one xD |

Finally someone that mentions it. SO 4 was a low blow because SO 3 was an amazing game. The fact that we got through the 7th gen without a proper Star Ocean game is sad.
Lucky for us SO 5 looks like a proper game.
As for my best RPG: Dark Souls, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces F, Xenoblade Chronicles, etc. <- Out of these ones the best is definitely Dark Souls, my number one RPG of the 7th gen.
And the worst: SO 4, Ni no kuni. Ni no kuni had such horrible sidequests... and the game was so easy... boring game overall. I really tried to like it because of ghibli but no, the game just sucks.

In the whole discussion of what defines a jprg i am not one that says it's an rpg game made in Japan. Demon Souls is a hack and slash in my book.
Consider it a subjective point of view, like in every other discussion about games.

I'm not sure I'd agree with this. Infinite Undiscovery was mediocre, but at least I had some fun with it. Resonance of Fate is another Tri-Ace game which I found very fun to play, despite having some terrible plot issues and a not-so-memorable OST. |
To me it was the worse thing I played last generation and I played White Knight, Last Rebellion and Enchanted Arms, as for the rest of Tri-Ace Star Ocean 4 was dull and boring compared to the past titles, and I couldn't even get into Resonance of Fate, because I became too jaded.

I only played Xenoblade, Star Ocean, FF 13, Magna Carta 2, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Valkyria Chronicles, Enchanted Arms, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Story, and a few others I can't think of.
Valkyria was more of a strategy game. Lost Odyssey was most like a 5th gen Final Fantasy. I'm going with that one. Critics got it wrong because they wanted more innovation instead of something old done really really well.
