Is this by any chance in relation to the petition that was posted on the white house website ;P?

Yes, both are about esports. :P

Well i played golf last year and i didnt really fell athletic.

Well you were outside and standing up at least.

well yea but location or position doesnt really make something a sport.

I'd say so... Many consider Chess being a sport but that doesn't require much physical effort. I find esports more entertaining than many "real" sports, specially stuff like sc2

I dont know what makes a sport, so...

I can see E-Sports being considered true sports by the Football/Soccer/Baseball/etc. types of people in the near future. Games like Gran Turismo Sport are going to make that a reality in no time.

However, as has been said above, games and e-sports are already real sports, but in the relm of chess, pool, bowling etc. I don't think sit down controller games will ever be considered real sports by the beef cakes out there. In the future though, I can see VR games definitly making the cut as a "real" sport due to the shear physicality they will require.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Depends how sport is defined. If it is defined as needing some kind of physical strength or athleticism, then no it's not a sport. But since the international sports organisations classify non-physical contests as sports (chess for example) as "mind-sports" then from an official definitional perspective I don't see how anyone can argue that e-sports aren't sports. Individuals have their own perspective of what is and isn't a sport in their mind, but when it comes to international recognition you have to establish objective criteria and test things against those crieteria.

Looking at the definition of the word, I'm gonna say no.

First of all, who cares? It's just a label.

Second, what is the criteria for a "sport"? Does darts count? Bowling? I assume it has to do with physical movement and competition but how little physical movement is needed to qualify? I have no idea but I bet a lot of people are going to make up definitions based on nothing.

I dont. But I dont care either. Although, I do think considering eSports a professional "sport" is good and important, so the label does matter.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Well, it does need a label. Not me, but for example, eSports gamers sometimes can't get visas as athletes to compete abroad, hence the recent White House petition which, as it is with White House petitions, won't achieve shit.
