Please be true. RE 6 tried so hard to be Metal Gear Solid... And failed miserably.

Are you joking? Don't be fooled by the simple anime style. That game is disturbing. It's the scariest game i ever played.

If it really was scarry to you then i think its because it had no guns and you were defensless

What? You really think guns would have helped against 4 ghosts who cut your genetials?

They can talk the talk, but the real question is, will they really walk the walk?

I have my doubts that they will capture the original feel of the 1st RE games, but hey, maybe they'll succeed in doing it. At least now they recognize the problems that plagued 5 and 6.

nothing will cpature the original feel of the 1st RE games or the original SIlent Hill games. You are grown up now, games wont scarry you these days.

Unless you are completley defenless and there are monsters who can kill you with one hit, but gamers wouldnt like it

I think it's still possible. I guess it depends on the developers understanding how horror works and how to best scare the player. I know this isn't a good example since it's old, but I think Fatal Frame 4 did an excellent job with horror. I thought I was over scares when I played it, but that one proved me wrong.  What it did best was always leaving the player feeling unsettled, and just played with your mind often.

So yeah, I think horror is still possible today, but just had to be done right.

Why not just mix the Resident Evil 5 gameplay with the classic mansion/Raccoon City design? I'm not sure I'd like to go back to tank controls and having to carry keys in my inventory that weight as much as a shotgun, to be honest.

They can make a game with the controls/gameplay of the more action oriented resident evil with the horror survival elements from the earlier resident evils.

In regards to the OP, i'll believe it after the game is out. I'm not wasting any of my time on being hyped for the game or spend any money on it til I know it's gone back to the roots of the series.

I recall Capcom said something similar about RE6 and released a trailer of an early part of Leon's campaign to assure people but the game was far from it and they later said they wanted to draw in the COD crowd so it's wait and see tbh.

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't trust Capcom after the previous Resident Evil games, and the spinoffs.

I don't much care about the controls. I just want regular zombies and a simpler story. No global terrorist orginisations, biological warefare or any of that junk. Just a virus outbreak somewhere with the goals of the game to be 1. Survive 2. Escape from virus area 3. Find origin/cure for virus.

Oh and I'd like a decent number of characters too (not necessarily playable though). For starters running around alone (as in many RE games) doesn't exactly give the best chance of survival. Realistically people would stick together in such a situation. Plus I'd much rather see a plot focusing on characters trying to survive/deal with a virus outbreak than some of the silly plots in the latest games. Also, having more characters and having lots of interaction with them, gives you more chance to kill them off during the story and have people actually care.

I'm a hardcore RE fan and I can tell you right now, there is no way they can roll back to a simpler plot without pissing the fans off or ruining what Resident Evil is now about. I'm not sure if you've played Revelations 2 yet, but that really expanded on the core plot of the series and continued a major storyline. One of the major character's is still being developed in the "Heavenly Island" Manga, and Umbrella Corps will likely nudge a hint towards the fall of Tri-cell.

There is also a new Pharmaceutical company named Shenya Pharmaceuticals. They are a Chinese company and are very much likely the company that was referred to as "Umbrella's Rival" company in RE2. The one that Ada was likely working for, and one that a certain villain has worked with, likely for her own gain.

The Revelation games are much more catered to the core fans and blend the style of gameplay with the survival horror elements. Revelations 2 is probably the best game in the series along with RE4 and the RE remake on Game Cube.

Really? Because going back to something simpler made RE remastered sell well.

Don't really agree on this one tbh I'm a long time player of the series as well and I'll say what made that sell was more to do with legacy then anything. A simple approach that meets up to today's standards can work though as RE4 was simple in approach even though mechanically it was new.

Zombies are everyone's favourite canon fodder but tbh the Ganados are better more interesting enemies and put up a more valiant varied fight with out the need to add in loads of differing mutants to actually trouble the player. One thing that put me off RE6 was the way they had Zombies trying to be Ganados and it felt off.

He or she is right in that they simply can't roll back to the golden years as we've moved well on from that but the are things they should take note of, imo they need to be a bit more subtle with the story and rather than throw a whole conspiracy at you just feed the player bits of key information through out the game while notes and letter in the game provide some back story and later games can tie into it. This will be controversial for a lot of purists but I'll come out and just say it, they should ditch Zombies for the Ganados, the latter are more customizable and allow for more varied situations, old RE had to throw in a load of mutants and so on because Zombies were just there to get blown away, Ganados on the otherhand don't need that much support.

One thing I do want from Capcom though is more games based around new survivers insteading of always bringing the same cast back, much like RE1 to RE2 I'd like to see games where someone is just in the wrong place at the worst possible time and has to survive. RE4 style gameplay with more focus on survival is really what they should be looking at and not the action shoot em up of RE6 and preferably keep multiplayer separate or don't build the single player around it at least, melee combat should just disappear altogether unless it's done like RE4.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.  I never really liked the global bio terror turn that happened at 4.  Honestly the story telling was much better 1-Veronica when it was about survival.

I would like if they used modern controls like in resident evil 6.  Controls aren't the issue.  It's the story and settings that need to changed.
