Welcome to war? US gave Japan time to surrender they did not because of their pride at the time. They brought it upon themselves and their people because of their actions. Sorry not sorry.

Even if it is war, there are still rules. Probably never heard of "crimes against humanity".

And just to go ever further, this kind of ignorance makes me really angry.

I can still remember when the tsunami hit fukushima a lot of US citizens posted on Facebook that this was the revenge for Pearl Harbor. It just shows how fucking stupid people can be.

Oh I 100%. They didn't deserve that BS spewed from US citizens. I would never wish harm on Japan. I mean most of the games I play are from Japan and most of my favorite franchises. I also want to visit there someday my buddy in the Navy says it is amazing. It was a drastic decision to make at the time. They wanted to end the war without losing more people. We shouldnt have to apologize for the incompetence of the Japan Empire back in the 40s.

Japan should apologize to ME for what they made me do to my penis back in 2005. Damn fetish porn.

If you poke a hornet nest and get stung 50 times, do the hornet's owe you an apology? Even if they sting everyone in your family?

This won't end well, but didn't japan attacked a military base on Pearl Harbor where the US dropped a nuclear bomb on civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

So.. to make it clear.. Japan attacked a military base and the US dropped a nuclear bomb on civilians. Yeah... Japan should really apologies first, right?

But hey.. maybe people shouldn't get taught in history by Micheal Bay.

Yeah, because bombing a military base was the only atrocity the empire of Japan committed during and prior to WWII...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I think what amazes me in this thread is the criticism of the US's relationship with Japan now. Like, they are one of our best allies and we have great relations with the country.

Well, that and the complete ignorance of the Pacific Theater of WW2, but that's to expected when people are educated very far from the events on a global forum.

He'd probably do it too. Should Pearl Harbor survivors ask for an apology from Japan?

erhm.....

Differnt situations you cant really compair?

One is a military base, with tiny amount of people (like 2000 people died).

vs main city(s), where hundres of thusands of people died, and millions where made sick by radiation poisoning.

You understand that "hundres of thusands" (potentially millions of sick people) > "2000 ish" right?

You also understand in war, in general you attack military with military, and leave the civilians alone.

The A bombs, where targeted at hurting civilians.

I dont think he should apology for others mistakes or choices.

However the question you raised is just wack.

Did you know that the bombing of Tokyo in March of 1945 was actually the most devastating bombing campaign ever and resulted in more direct deaths (nearly all civilian) than either of the nuclear bombings later that year?

Amazingly though nobody seems to have a problem with that, and only ever seem to care about the two nuclear attacks.  So if the Allies had firebombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki instead of utilizing the atomic bomb, essentially killing the same amount of people, would you still have an issue with the attacks?

Never denied the crimes done by the japanese. But this topic is about Pearl Harbor and the atomic bomb on Japan.

What is funny is that we are closer friends with Japan and Germany than we are with most of the Allied powers.  Too bad the whole nation building thing didn't work out for Iraq and Afghanistan.  So much waste in government spending projects carried out through private corporations.  This time it was all about greed.

If it will make them feel better why not? It's an apology doesnt cost us anything.

The USA should apologize for that barbaric act and pay reparations to the families of the victims.

They had many targets with highly concentrated Japanese enemy combatants to choose from, like annihilating their bases, navy or army groups for the emperor to surrender.

There's no difference between that horrible event and dictators like Stalin's artificial famine, Pol Pot, Saddam using chemical weapons on civilians etc.
