Forums - Nintendo - Zero Punctuation: Star Fox Zero (Effort)

I've played the game for a while and completed the single player for the first time recently. I really don't get the hate for the graphics to be honest. It's not gonna blow people's minds but it's not really bad at all. Worst graphics this gen? I can't go that far. It's either being nitpicked or just a person's opinion. It looks nice to me from a big picture standpoint.

This is so unlike Nintendo to release games that are not polished to perfection. Star Fox Zero and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash are not up to Nintendo standards. The new president of Nintendo says that he will increase the number of games in the future. Quantity over quality is never a good thing.
Hopefully this is just a temporary thing and Nintendo returns to normal.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

I think this is Nintendo trying to put stuff on the WiiU while also trying to ditch it at the same time. I suspect a conflict of interest there.

That's what I'm hoping it is. It would be really bad if Nintendo turned into a shovel ware company.

Seriously, why are people so down on Miyamoto lately? He's a creative genius, and still putting out great games. Star Fox Guard is a side project, still pretty good, and Pikmin 3 was probably the best of the series. It is absurdly silly to blame him for Nintendo's problems, he's not the issue

He's definitely not a creative genius anymore.

Guard is unremarkable. Zero is dog poop. He made Wii Music and thought it was good. The thought Giant Robots was a good idea. He apparently ruined modern Paper Mario. He's responsible for why everyone hates Star Fox Adventures and are mixed on Command. He's responsible for the absolute stupidest design decision in Metroid (not counting Other M) by forcing a 2D platformer to be in the first person "because immersion," when the team were already prepared to make the right decision of making the game a 3rd person action platformer. His reason for not allowing a new F-Zero to surface is akin to "I have no new ideas for F-Zero," meanwhile Mario Kart 8 gets by on "antigravity" that plagerizes design concepts from F-Zero for its "new idea."

Miyamoto hasn't been a "creative genius" since the N64 era at the farthest. Miyamoto is a hasbeen who, at best, lessens games and, at worse, completely ruins them.

ooooooooooh, man, i'm not with you there.  I can't speak for paper mario, but i don't think star fox could have turned out any better.  It's not like miyamoto decided "guys we gotta use the game pad!".  It was probably mandated to him to use it.  They've just gotta loosen the reigns on him.  Pikmin was truly his baby and it was fantastic.  And bad mouthing prime?   mand that series is GREAT.  I'd personally prefer the 3rd person perspective and i still loved it.  Just as long as we're not going back to 2d.  2d's time has passed.

I mean you kinda have to consider the circumstances here. Nintendo has no third party support other than indies on Wii U and even the Vita is getting constant support over 3DS besides big names like Yokai, Monster Hunter, Ace Attorney, DQ (though Vita has the Builder game), etc. In the end, Nintendo has done whatever it could to support the two consoles at the same time while transitioning it's teams to NX, mobile, and other things. Not saying everything they have provided recently has been great, but they've done as much as they could. Nothing can do much for Wii U in terms of pushing sales and 3DS is pretty close to maxing out its potential, though has some life left due to Pokemon, Kirby, DQXI, Ace Attorney, MH, Yokai Watch 3, etc. If given more time, I'm sure the games they put out last holiday would've been more fleshed out, but alas, time was just not there for Wii U last holiday since the company has been prepping to transition into the new avenues and new console. I'm not trying make excuses, just pointing out what's going on.

Even so, I feel you shouldn't make a game if you have no intention of trying to make it good. There's no point giving the Wii U shovelware for the sake of it. Honestly they should have either moved the likes of Mario Tennis, Starfox, Color Splash, and amiibo Festival over to NX so they would have enough time to become full fledged quality titles, or never started working on them to begin with, especially in the case of amiibo Festival.

Just making that statement demonstrates how much a lot of people never understood the point of a Star Fox game

I'll remember that for when someone mocks The Order:1886's Length 'Bro you just don't understand the point in the game'

As a somewhat more serious example, I'll do the same with Call of Duty (its all about the MP)

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League
