Depending on what you have right now, the 1080 is a good option. Or what did it say was wrong with it?

He did a really down to earth review, that's it.
If you want me to provide some links, I'll post them.

Been a while since I've watched Tek as I mostly watch Linus but you should go ahead and post Tek's views on the new gen cards because I'd love to get his/their pov on the new line.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

All these reviews do for me is making me more hyped for the Titan. After all the 1080 is just a shrinked 980 with higher clock.
What you really want is a dual Big Pascal SLI. Should be a gigantic leap over the 980ti and at higher resolutions even more. With that setup I might jump to a higher resolution even sooner. I just set my eyes on a new monitor which is 35" 3440x1440 144Hz.

Good performance boost. Still waiting for the big pascal chips EG 1080ti and Pascal Titan before i buy any new GPUs. One thing i did find interesting is the lack of a boost from DX12. If you look at it the Nvidia cards were roughly the same performance between DX11 and DX12. Looks like it might suffer in the same ways that Maxwell did no Async compute or maybe its something else? Either way will be interesting to see how the drivers mature.
Long Live SHIO!
Well Nvidia themselves said Pascal and Maxwell offer the same performance per clock. So its the high clocks, lower power consumption and new features that stand out the most.
I'm GPU-less right now, so i'm considering the first EVGA 1080 card that pops up that does 2100Mhz+ but first i want to see the overclockability of the 1070.
I can always sell it before they launch the 1080ti and recoup my money back.
PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW
Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

Hey, whenever you can, send me the model of the crystal ball you own so I can look it up on ebay.

Maybe the problem is that you don't understand the meaning of the word "mainstream"? 600-700 Euro will not be mainstream, it's already enthusiast level. Listen to what AMD is saying all the time, they are preparing affordable VR-ready GPUs. They won't cost nearly as much and from nVidia the competition will be the 1070.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
So Computerbase finally tested the first custom 1080. The Strix OC from ASUS goes up to 2000MHz.

And it's still just 22% above an overclocked 980ti. People who are switching from that are crazy.
