Forums - Nintendo - WiiU's Pokken outsold PS4's Street Fighter V at retail in the US, too.

Which game do you prefer?

Pokken Tournament 256 68.09%

Street Fighter 4 64 17.02%

None. 56 14.89%

Total:376

That's quite a surprise. I never expected something like this would happen, thought considering how SFV launched, I'm not surprised it didn't sell as well as it should have. It was a poor decision for Capcom to release SFV in the state that it was.

I would say Street Fighter V proves a lack of benefits for third party devs to make games exclusive.

Removing Sony's money, and releasing an unfinished game (in 2018+) on multiple consoles wouldn't neccesarily have been better.
If it didn't do great on PS4 or PC, it wouldn't have looked better on Xbox One and WiiU.

Better make that assessment based on games that don't have problems or controversy surrounding them at launch.

Keep this in mind. It may have.

Because in the US at retail it did.  Digital will be higher for SFV and WW SFV has sold more.

People are celebrating Pokken selling more at retail only in the USA.  Why lol.  It's the world that counts.

Weren't you celebrating that victory the PS4 had on the 3DS the first two months of 2015 in the US? Is still in your signature and its only about the USA.

Regardless, the only facts we have are the released numbers which are only retail for Pokken in the US and I believe in Japan too. Until we have the complete data for both games, worldwide numbers are a guess.

Honestly think this is sad and not a good thing for the fighting scene.

Umm because this thread is focused in the US!!?!

People are celebrating because it beat it in the US! Because the thread says US!

Congrats you beat it in one territory at retail.  We don't even know the total including digital.

I'm saying it now.  Pokken won't out ship SFV lifetime.  It's going to lose this battle.

Kerotan the visionary is never wrong.  You can bookmark this. Just like my ps4 will beat Wii U in  Japan in 2016 prediction was bookmarked.

I don't understand. This thread is about USA and some people are already derailing the thread with their salt and WW numbers that doesn't have to do anything with this. Why can't mods act in this one? I want an answer.

Well. At least the disscussion is still about the sales. Except is now about the NPD data against the teorical worldwide numbers everyone seem to have figured out. Is not what the disscussion started as, but I can't say is completely unrelated either.

Makes sense all things considering...

Yup. Now is in Nintendo hands, to save the fighting game genre.

Lmao, no it doesn't. It has a decent Smash audience thanks to Smash. It sounds stupid because it is stupid. I love Street Fighter, but it would've died on Wii U. Unless it were exclusive, in which case it would do better for the sales of the two other fighting games on the Wii U, Tekken and Injustice, than it would for itself. Smash is not a fighting game, and Smash players statistically do not play fighting games.

They play other competitive action games, like Pokken.

If Nintendo wants to get fighting game players on their platform, they need an actual fighting game exclusive. Not a party brawler like Smash. Not a competitive action game like Pokken. They need a Street Fighter. They need a Tekken. Or, more realistically, they need Nintendo vs. Capcom. The bridge. Nintendo roster in a fighting game box.

They do have a Tekken...

If the NX would be a cartridge based system with possible use of 3DS carts they'll also have Super Street fighter 4 on there, the 3d edition.

As for the logic above that Smash isn't a fighting game... what genre is it?
