I am already Digital only on the PC.

But if going digital on console means:
1) Prices remain the same or higher. - Then I am not interested.
2) Loss of features. - I.E. Offline Play.
3) Increased DRM.

Steam enticed me with Digital by consolidating my games library, increasing convenience, no longer did I have to keep every disc cover and CD key around.
But they did that whilst significantly reducing prices.

Microsoft's proposal originally with the Xbox One was to retain price parity, whilst increasing DRM and removing features and that just never works.
Heck... Most of the DLC released a decade ago is pretty much the same price on Xbox live, same with many of games, that's unacceptable if they wish for Digital to become the norm.

They would have to make it work just like steam, where I'm assured I'd be able to play the games I bought no matter the changes in platforms in the foreseeable future. The games I buy should belong to me even if they're digital, so they should guarantee availability even 100 years from now.

If somehow the servers would ceash, goodbye games.

The technology is here, but it's not as widely accepted for a full offensive on physical content. Eventually, some time in 21XX, there won't be physical media probably just a small plastic case with a download code. They already have these but it'll probably be the only choice.

I play video games on consoles because it's really cheap to buy physical copies. I can trade them in or sell them when I'm done or buy used copies if I'm iffy on a game. If i'm gonna be forced into buying digital, I might as well just upgrade to gaming on PCs where I can use mods and in some cases sell my gaming account on certain games after I'm done with the game. There's no advantages to game on a digital only console.

Hasn't been an issue on PC. When I had a vita, most of my games were on the memcard. I'm sure I can get used to it on home console.

Yes I will.

I'd rather not, and frankly, it might be the first step to making me move on from gaming.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

No - I have a steam account and that works well but it is different from consoles- I can use most any pc hardware to access the steam account and future generations of pc s will only allow the ability to access more playable games due to hardware upgrades- So pc is backwards compatible over multiple generations and most any software- but a console -not at all- particularly Nintendo consoles- If I buy anew pc tomorrow I don t have to re buy my games- There is far less control of your games on a console than a pc and a digital only console would be even less control

To compare digital console to digital pc, music and movies is not an "apples to apples" comparison- not even close- One day that could change but I would not buy a digital only console until I could access those games the same way/similar conditions I can access pc games, digital music and movies

No. Even in this day and age, I still play most of my games on physical media, and I plan on keeping it that way for as long as possible.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
