Most ps4 games look amazing to me and I have no reason nor do I care to build a PC. As far as I'm concerned ps4 is powerful enough and the xbone exclusives I have look great too. Console master race bros.

Not 1080p/60fps. 900p/60fps. 720p/60fps if need be. It absolutely is clear cut. The way a game plays is more important than the clarity of the screen. |
But how much better does a game play at 60 fps? For some game types, it's huge. For others, it's really not.
Would Uncharted 4 be better enough to justify the loss of detail? In my opinion, no.
don't get me wrong, if Neo comes out and lets me play every game at 1080p/60 fps. I'm totally game for that. But if a compromise needs to be made, I don't buy that 60 fps is always the answer.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Agreed. This generation especially, visuals seem to come before the game design a lot of times. It's a unfortunate but I'm sure it will go away.
Not saying that I don't like good looking games... Who doesn't. It should just take a back seat to other factors like story and gameplay. |
Other than The Order and Ryse I don't really think we've seen much of that.

i agree naught dog has some talent. the best talent maybe. I would love to see a new grand turismo on ps4 neo
The PS4 is powerful enough. What is stupid is the focus on 1080p. There really is no need. FPS has a positive effect on smoothness of animation and responsiveness of gameplay. 1080p gives you more pixels. Not like the game wouldn't look good at 720p either. If you stand far enough from the TV you won't even notice a difference.
Devs like ND can work magic with the hardware they're given. Obviously not all devs are at that calibre though so I think having powerful enough hardware to compensate for less capable devs and multiplat situations would be best.
The Neo sounds like what should have launched in 2013.

You don't know that. ND will get even more out of it with their next game. I read this comment every single generation. |
I'm guessing the existence of PS Neo, if it indeed exists, is because of demand from developers like ND to produce even better looking games.

I absolutely hate when people say this. 60fps make a huge difference for all but text-based adventure games. It's not a difference of a game playing alright at 30 and great at 60. It's the difference of a game playing like shit at 30 or acceptable at 60. 30 fps is not an acceptable condition to release any game that is not pushing other technical boundries that will have a tangible impact on the moment to moment gameplay. Clearer screens, fuzzy cloth on clothes, and water shadow separate from regular shadows are absolutely not justification for shitty framerates on a system that could otherwise easily handle a locked 60fps in the same exact game with very little impact to the visual fidelity of the game.

You mean you hate when people disagree with you. Because I do. 60 fps is not a huge difference in every type of game. As someone who is super sensitive to resolution, I'll take 1080p/30 fps over 720p/60fps in most games any day.
If you're so set on playing everything in 60 fps. Vote with your wallet. Don't buy 30 fps games, or buy a gaming PC and change your settings accordingly. Beyond that...you're just going to have to live with the fact that not everyone has the same priorities as you do.
