Forums - Gaming - Disney Infinity canceled, Disney stopping as video game publisher

Disney Infinity canceled = meh, who cares?

However:

Im not ashamed to say I played Disney Epic Mickey I & II on the Wii.
Them saying they wont do video games anymore... awwww... guess we ll never see a Epic Mickey III.

The movie biz is probably more profitable. Don't quote me on that though.

I thought DI was doing well. The figurines are all very nice; if I was unreasonably wealthy, I'd have bought a ton of them, especially the Marvel figures.

no suprise no one really cares about Disney in the Video game space, we have Nintendo which is more relevant.

They are also self to be blamed for not doing anything with their IPs like giving money to Capcom to make some awesome Marvel Fighting game like they did in the 90s.

Holy shit, I thought this was a joke thread.

If I'm reading that right they lost $147m on Disney Infinity in the last 6 months. I see why they shut it down, that's a big loss.

I don't think that's what it means.

It basically means that their console publishing arm was anasset they had valued at 147 million, and now they have to write that asset off the balance sheet.

the smart toy game is a tough market. Nobody cares much for Skylanders anymore, Disney Infinity barely had anything to stand on to begin with, and even Lego Dimensions seemed to lose all momentum from the moment it was released. Amiibos have stayed afloat for their collectability and long-term DLC benefits, but who knows how long that could last

Platinum and Activision will have a heck of a time with all of those IPs to license...

Cool, maybe a capable developer will- nah, it's going to be EA...
