Forums - Sony - Adam Boyes: Activision still owns Crash

Just because they still own Crash, it doesn't mean they can't lend Sony the IP to work on a game. Doesn't mean they aren't working on a game themselves. The odds that we're getting a new Crash game any time soon are still down by quite a bit, but it's still possible.

ugh, if Activision refuse to sell then Sony just need to make Crosh Bondicoot instead!

Follow Crosh Bondicoot in his incredible adventures to defeat the evil Dr. Kurtis.

Don't forget about Crosh's companion Eyyku Eyyku, and his evil brother, Oookay Oookay.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I fully expect Activision to do something at the influence of Sony and this hype wave... but its gonna be disappointing.

This is an impossible dream.

People would be better off making this whole fuss over Jak 4. At least Sony has got the rights to that.

Well if they want to make a direct sequel to Jak 3, I am not interested. We have enough TPS in the market.

we do?

There is something called contract, they still can ask for an exclusive Crash for PS4.

After all, there is also this strong rumor about an exclusive Spiderman for PS4 by Sucker Punch while Acti owns Spiderman games.

I'm pretty sure Activisions license ran out.

Oh i found something about the right to spiderman indeed: http://investor.activision.com/ReleaseDetail.cfm?releaseid=180674

Guess you were right afterall. But i wonder if there were any other arrangements if Sony is developing. There was the whole deal with bringing spidey back to marvel afterall.

Its also not clear what "through 2017" actually means in this context. Does that mean until 2017 starts? If thats the case then Activision's license does indeed run out before the movie and next game come out. The timing seems too convinient for Activision to still get a cut on this. They would just have to delay it one year, so i'm convinced Activision doesnt get to dip on this party.

On a latter note, even if Sony did have the IP, why would he say anything now?

E3 is coming up. This could be an attempt to make new Sony Crash more of a surprise. Or maybe he's sick of fielding Crash questions. But the way Sony's been lacing their Playstation events and social media with allusions to Crash, like how Marvel movies insert references to future projects, it's hard to ignore.

That could be true for now. I feel they're only saying that to dispell rumors, but Crash is probably coming back soon in some sort of form.

I don't believe it :P he's lying.

I think it was Sony trying to hype it so activision would bite and they won't.
