Forums - Gaming - Will Activision Respond the the IW Backlash?

Its only been a few days and already the Infinite Warfare reveal trailer has been hated by every CoD fan under the sun and then some, game developers have insulted it, it has risen to the 11th most disliked youtube video of all time, and the reveal of Battlefield 1 could have just put it in the ground. The one thing, if anything, that is killing the game is Modern Warfare Remastered- fans have wanted a return to conventional war mechanics and settings based on real historical battles. he got that is the form of a remastered game that wont even include all original maps and is exclusive to those who buy the special editions of the game. Basically, the game people really want is a pre-order bonus since we all know the limited editions always fly off the shelves. now im going to stop talking abou all that because if you clicked this topic you probably knew all that already.

Point being- this is the biggest backlash Ive ever seen from gamers, but even on smaller issues, devs have responded. Its comparable to another situation from a few months back when the Fine Bros tried trademaking the term "react" on youtube. Why did they do this? they thought they could get away with it. and even now, the Fine Bros still havent recovered. this is the same situation that the Call of Duty brand is in right now. If activision doesnt respond, then fans will immediately assume they dont care about their fans and lose faith in the brand. if they do respond and say for instance MWR becomes a standalone title, they will be in better shape, but the damage will of course still remain.

so the question is- will they respond? i feel like they will but they will only try to justify MWR and keep it locked in the special editions. i will actually predict right now that anywhere from 6-12 months after release, MWR will be available as a standalone game, but hey maybe not. but i feel like they will just let things fester and not care at all for what fans are saying. but what do you guys think about the whole situation? will they respond and if so, how will they?

Why ? What's there to hate about COD: IW aside from the space fights ?

well, exactly that. fans dont want space fights. its so out of place for the series. it would be like giving Mario a sword

I'm pretty sure there will be ground only sections of the campaign and ground only maps in the multiplayer ...

If you don't like it then don't play it ...

Change that to sonic, and I can say it already happened! :P

No way in hell the CoD4 remaster won't be soled separately, eventually. How long will we have to wait? That's the question.

Didnt they already respond?

Too late to change the fundementals of Infinite Warfare. I don't see 2017 COD changing either considering it would already be 1.5 years into development and is being made by the team that produced Advanced Warfare(expect boost jumping of some sort). Maybe the hate will diminish when gameplay is shown. I still expect COD:IW to sell alot of copies but that is really a given. Even Ghosts(which was almost universally disliked) sold ALOT but it was available on 5 platforms and caught a second wind on PS4/X1. Modern Warfare Remaster will elevate sales of IW this time around. Alot of COD fans consider that to be the best COD of all time.

They already did: http://kotaku.com/activision-responds-to-the-call-of-duty-infinite-warfa-1775103402

This is saddening.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

"On the second part of your question related to Infinite Warfare, first of all you got to love the passion of gamers. This is an industry like no other, and a fan base like no other and we love that our fans treat this franchise like it’s their own and have such strong points of view about it. There just aren’t many entertainment franchises on Earth that can generate the kind of passion that Call of Duty can and that’s a good thing."

I think I'm going to throw up from all of that spin.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
