Forums - Gaming - Advice: Don't rush out and buy COD:IW just for COD4 remastered

I dont think I get what's really going on here. I'm generally not a fan of any COD. basically not a fan of any kinda game that is released annually. But I don't understand the hate here. you are sounding like it's already written in stone that COD:IW is guaranteed going to be a horrible game and isn't worth being sold on its own merits. Funny thing is, even if they didn't throw in the remastered game, COD will still sell more than 10M copies regardless.

And all this against a game no one has actually played. Guess it's really true, when you are on top it's more interesting wantng them to fail.

I'm just salty (I admit I am salty) because they are locking the COD4 Remaster behind Infinite Warfare - and furthermore I believe they are locking the other 6 MP maps behind IW DLC which will be released throughout the year. I know there are people out there like me who want COD4 but not IW. IW does look like a good game - in fact a bad Call of Duty has never been released IMO, the production value is too high. However, this is the route that I would have to take to play COD4 in its entirety:

>Buy IW Legacy Edition ($100 in Canada)

>Buy Season Pass (if my theory is correct) ($50 in Canada)

>Sell IW at almost full price to innocent child (Gain $70 CAD I'd hope)

>Leaves me at $80 for a remaster, after many unnecessary steps

They would be so much better off releasing it as a standalone. I hope with enough internet backlash that they will. This is why I hate on IW at this moment; not because it is a bad game, but because I need their attention in order for them to change their mind.

The trailer just wasn't good. Thinking a game doesn't look good based on it's trailer is just as valid as being excited for a game based on it's trailer.

The issue here, is that they are taking a game people want and making people buy a game that they aren't excited for to get it. I don't really what's so confusing about that.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't become standalone.

But yea, as much as I love Modern Warfare, I can wait, as CoD is a series I don't care for anymore.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Wouldn't be surprised if it's on Xbox Live/PSN day one for $40 just not in-store as a standalone copy.

Yeah, I find this tactic to hold COD 4 hostage to make people pre-order really distasteful and anti-costumer.I mean, they are basically trying to get the sales from the people who wouldnt buy Infinity because of the setting. Its effective, but still horrible.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I think it would be a cool thing if people did vote with their wallets and not buy CoD on day 1... but then all their dudebro friends would rank up ahead of them and have more prestige .... can't allow that, you might as well ask people not to buy yearly Fifa or Madden games, every year people agree that they're adding little to nothing to the same old game, every year they top the charts for months.

Some people have outside things making them buy the game, from their friends wanting them to team up online or just to buy games to prove they aren't out of the loop buying quirky fun titles, can't have that image, so they pay $120 because that is the norm to do.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

This is what I think Activision is gonna do with Modern Warfare Remastered:
Day 1: Only available with Special Editions
2 months after release: DLC1 containing 5 maps available, $15
4 months after release: DLC2 containing 5 maps available, $15
6 months after release: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone including all 20 maps available, $50

smh..... they aren't making anyone buy anything to get anything. what's wrong with gamers these days????

if you wanna play the game get a PS3/360. this game is a remaster. and a problem that didn't even exist until they made it known that they were doing the remaster. It's not like there has been this large community of people clamoring for a remaster.

The real shocker is, if they said they were making standalone COD and releasing the remaster as a stand alone purchase, people would have been up in arms about them being money grabbers too.

Activision is kinda disgusting

You should read what I wrote again. I said they are making people buy Infinite War to get the remaster. Which obviously means, that if someone wants the remaster, they have to buy the new game aswell.

What a silly argument. Obviously people want the remaster. In fact, the general response seems to be that people are more excited for this than the actual new game.

The simple fact of the matter is that they have two games coming out this fall. One that people are excited for, and one that people aren't. But you can't buy the former without also paying for the latter.

Oh, and no, people wouldn't have complained. They likely would respond in pretty much the same way I would have. "Oh, Infinite War looks dumb. But looks like I'll still be buying a COD this year."
