E3 gets like 300% more online viewership then gamescom (possibly more) and sometimes the conferences airs on TV
I'm quite sure much more people know about an event called "E3" than any other. That's why it's a bigger show. Even if only MS and Sony go, more eyes will be watching it than any other show.

I just care for the new games announced at the E3. Like the possibility of a new Suikoden game.
Nintendo and Sony have leased the MOST floor space this year of any Company at e3- so they obviously beleive it is important- although e3 s importance may change one day, it s still the most known and publicised event in gaming and one of the few places main stream media has a heavy presence re gaming

Well if that's what you meant I guess I was mistaken but E3 still takes place more than a 1000 miles from Redmond, Washington.
Though E3 is still more of an gaming expo than anything else, for electronics expos there is CES in Las Vegas.
