Forums - Gaming - Why do people on this site still think E3 is important?

1. Gamescom is many times bigger nowadays.

2. Gamescom is in a better location. Located in Germany, it is pretty much in the centre of important places, whereas E3 is on the west coast in the US, which is far from the main American cities like New York, Boston (Harvard is there), and Washington.

3. Nintendo is not the only company who is pulling out of E3, the very large American companies are also pulling out and no longer doing presentations either.

4. Other bigger gaming platforms like Apple iOS do not bother with E3 even though they are the top gaming platform at 21 billion in gross revenue, which is greater than Nintendo and Sony revenues combined.

5. E3 is no longer reported on as much as it used to be. While I would say it has been higher for years, the last couple of years Gamescom has clearly generated much more buzz and excitement surrounding it. This year with Gamescom still growing, and E3 shrinking, due to three major companies dropping support, it will be bigger.

6. Consider that Nintendo may have calculated that Gamescom, not E3, was a more important location to unveil NX in playable form to the world. There will be many many many more people there, and it will have larger media focus. Expect Nintendo's launch event to come just prior to Gamescom, and then Gamescom to be where they allow people to play the games.

Let E3 die, it shouldn't be important anymore.

Of course, you can probably replace Gamscom with TGS, but Nintendo would do better to have NX at both shows, that's 5-750,000+ people in just two shows, probably around 15 to 25 times more people than will be at E3. There is no reason people on this site should see E3 as important, it is a show that needs to die and let all the focus shift to the bigger and better expos.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

1. Gamescom is opened to the public, E3 is not (they've dabbled w/ it in the past), it's billed as an event for industry professionals (what criteria that is I don't know, but it's not general admittance).

2. The West Coast of the US, is where Silicon Valley is, where 'tiny' companies like Microsoft, Google, and Apple are from.   Remember it's an electronics expo, it's not just gaming.

3,4,5,6,7 - E3 isn't just for games.  It's an expo for a vast, vast variety of electronics, and technology.  Some bigger companies like Sony also use it as a time to lay out where they're at, and where they're going for the future. It's fine that Apple and Nintendo pull out, there's PLENTY of other shit for other companies to display.  I think the public has already become accustomed to Apple doing their own shows, anyway.  Nintendo's in regroup mode, they'll come out guns blazing soon enough.

You have to understand that Streaming is still a relatively new era and that its potential is now starting to be realized in this new era, majority of people on forums are not only from the old era when this wasn't available to companies so E3 was their main go to but they can't think of the possibility of change until it actually happens. Want an example look at When Nintendo first dropped stage shows, the was outrage all over then 2014 blew all the other showings out the water and now people realize a stage show is not really required.

Same thing here, people won't realize E3 has declined until we're in the year where companies are doing their own events and only turning up to organized events if they fell it's worth it or if they're invited and expenses are covered.

I said in a previous thread funny enough Nintendo may skip E3 when NX was confirmed to not be there, I can see many companies doing their own events in future and having ND like broadcasts for their announcements.

I think it tells a lot that this is posted under Nintendo discussion.

Anyway, I think you have to be delusional to think it's not important. Maybe Gamescom is more important, but saying E3 is not important is just wrong.

Well, I think E3 is still very important.

Nintendo will show us new Zelda footage, after all.

E3 is important.

You don't need a rocket scientist to tell you this. This is basic gaming knowledge.

bet: lost

E3 is something every gamer knows and pays attention to.

People on this site can think whatever they want, same as you. If others think e3 is important let them be. Basides It's not nintendo showing stuff about zelda at e3 this year? I also find it funny that you put this as Nintendo discussion instead of gaming, this is basically: "Meh, Nintendo doesn't care as much about E3 anymore, it's not important"

Because 30m-40m people view it?
The media is there? and it goes on web sites that millions more view?

Why do you think E3 isnt anymore? because to me, E3 is the biggest its ever been (if your talking about reaching viewers).
