Isn't this about the original Kinect. That was a win in every business metric you can think of.

Kinect 2 failure. There are many failures in gaming. From sony, ninty and ms. So what?

And if this is also about disingenuous promos from execs then I think we should look at the absolute horseshit and lies spouted prior to the ps2 from Krazy ken.

@bolded: no its not, if you would have actually seen the video you would have known that its about both Kinects. the Kinect 2.0 is featured a lot less, because it died within 8 months.

look at the thread title and the OP, this thread is about Kinect, if you dont like disussing it, or feel the need to include sony (as you always do), then you might want to find yourslef another thread. seriously, this need of yours to drag sony into everything is getting boring.

I still have Kinect connected in two rooms and I used it daily. :(

Virtual Boy (FAILURE), Wii Controller (HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL), Wii-U Controller + Wii-U - (FAILURE).

Betamax (FAILURE) , Eye Toy (SUCCESS), UMD Movies (FAILURE), Blu-ray Movies (HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL). PS Move Controller (MODERATE SUCCESS), PS Vita (Sony) (FAILURE).

Zune (MODERATE SUCCESS), Kinect (VERSION 1 - SUCCESS), (VERSION 2 - FAILURE), Windows Phone (MODERATE SUCCESS).

Nuff said.

A more realistic take.

Blu-ray Movies has moderate success at best. Blu-ray sales are declining and streaming movies is on the increase just like Microsoft said it would.

Doesn't matter. You listed those as some form of failure. They didn't fail, unlike HD-DVD.

Besides, Blu-ray disc and movies are 10-years-old. We're moving more and more into the digital era. Of course those sales are down. Doesn't negate that it was a successful medium (a medium that you now have on your Xbox One).

Blu-ray was supposed to replace DVD and become the standard for watching movies, that did not happen. DVD is still the most used way to watch movies on disk and streaming is on track to surpass DVD sales in 2017. So Blu-ray failed to do what it set out to do which is become the standard. As for HD-DVD who cares it would have also got replaced.

Then that's why you can't be blunt when you ask things like that.  I could have used loaded words like spin and rhetoric .... but instead I just pointed out some things that he was doing and directly asked him if he has worked in the field much as i might ask someone displaying knowledge of medicine if he has worked in the field.  Don't see any uncivilized communication whatsoever.

You're not helping your case by continuing to perpetuate this. Your initial post was not just a simple inquistion. I'd like to call that Flaming and Flamebaiting (yes, both). If you didn't want things to escalate, then that post shouldn't exist.

Listing communication techniques someone is using is not flame baiting,  nor flaming.  I feel that if you say something on here, I have implied  sort  of permission to politely comment on it.  Neither is asking him about his occupation.  Hopefully we can be reasonable with each othe CGI.  Btw, you seem to have knowledge of technology,  but I won't ask whether or not you have worked in the field, obviously it would deeply insult you so I'll leave that one unasked.  Have a great weekend :)

No there is no insult intended, we're all wanting to be reasonable adults, and this discussion is great bc talking it out always helps us find the truth.  And I'm always going to be both very polite and assertive on here.

Also, kinect was a lot of fun, it was just that Microsoft couldn't make it big enough to justify the expense of the product so they made a decision on that, probably the right one.

This will be the last time I tell you this - what you did was both Flaming and Baiting. If you won't take my word for it, I can have a different moderator come in and explain it to you (or, better yet, we can PM you). Hopefully, you'll leave it be going forward.

You started the discussion,  I'm just responding and so, we have a conversation.  If you want to continue this over pm, then please feel free.

And I don't want to anger you, bc you said that me asking kowen about his profession is a bad thing, so I don't want to do the same thing with you.  If you want to discuss anything with me or just say hi, then feel free to PM any time :)

Ok, what are your favorite kinect games? Do you feel that kinect deserves the criticism it has gotten? Is the technology good or bad?

Wait did someone in this thread say Zune and Windows Phone was a moderate success?
