Forums - Movies & TV - Anakin Skywalker and he bringing "balance to the Force"

I am watching The Clone Wars and have been thinking about Anakin being The One and his prophecy of bringing balance to the Force.

What balance did Anakin Skywalker bring to the Force?

Crumbling the Empire by killing the Emperor? Technically five minutes after the Emperor's death and now we have the galaxy overrun by Supreme Leader Snoke, Kylo Ren and Co. with the First Order.

So what balance did Skywalker bring?

Killing a shit-ton of Jedi of course. Yes, the Jedi had the Jedi Temple and recruitment system going on allowing the Light to have a lot of people on their side so Anakin came in and helped bring the Order 66 to wipe out most of the Jedi.

So things between the Jedi and the Sith became a little more balanced out after the Jedi killing rampage Anakin helped with.

Or what balance are we talking about?

It's never been clear cut what it meant. George Lucas probably doesnt even know. I'm assuming it has to do with there being... idk XD But he managed to keep the universe from being in chaos for like 15 years :P

Yeah, something like The Calm in Spira after a Summoner kills Sin.

Now I am sort of thinking, what if a new Chosen One appears from time to time when the Sith take over?

Could they be trying to sell us Rey as a new Chosen One?

Yoda: "A prophecy that misread, could have been."  Still you'd think if they had thoughts the "prophecy" was misread they could have looked it over some.  Speaking of which, where is  it even in the Star Wars universe?

Lube Me Up

Simple, two Jedis (Rey and Luke) and two siths (Rylo and Snoke). In the prequals the Jedis were the mass majority.

I've always thought that the Sith were vastly outnumbered, so him killing the Jedis brought balance between Dark/Light. That's the closest thing he's done to balance something. That's my way to see it. But I think that the official would be that he defeated the Emperor and that brought balance to the Force. I don't know why killing all the Sith would bring balance, that's not balance at all XD. I don't really know what it means tbh.

I don't read too much into Star Wars plots and storyline, since I think it's all about world and characters, and that's one of the things Lucas failed to understand in the prequels, writing bad characters and focusing too much on the main plot, which was messy too XD. And that something they really managed to acknowledge in TFA. And I was really happy about that!

You guys read way to much into it.
I watched the newest star wars, and by the end of it I was thinking....

Cool this guy is the new hans solo:

cool this girl is the new Luke skywalker:

the more things change the more they stay the same...

You guys, I finished watching the The Clone Wars (considered canon by Marvel) episode that got me thinking about this and I think it was explained there. It has nothing to do with what I wrote and nothing to do with killing the Emperor or the Jedi.

Apparently Anakin had to do something in that episode to bring "balance to the Force" and he didn't.

I don't want to spoil anything but the episode is from Season 3 Episode 15.

The prequels are not to be taken seriously: episode 1 was an excuse to sell toys (much like episode 7) and episodes 2 and 3 were an attempt to try to rescue the disaster that episode 1 was.

For me the term "balance" always sounded odd, because it would basically mean that both the light and the dark side would be equally strong if the force was "balanced"

But maybe, since he switched between sides at least twice, he was able to merge both sides and balance them out, so he could use whatever was most useful to him from either side in any given situation?

Maybe that was it he did in the end? He used the powers of the dark side to kill the Emperor in favor of the light. So he balanced it alright.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
