Perhaps they are used to sugarcoated experiences.. it was a little more dark than some heroes movies, but it wasn't particularly tense or shaking your ground like Law Abidding Citizen or even Saw.

That is so much obvious not only in other movies but in this as well. From the start it's obvious that individuals shall be responsible for their actions and power and not bend to other people desires to control them. And then we see the obvious in the ploy against the winter soldier (and by that time it was so obvious IM was being specially dumb, much more when the winter soldier is imprissioned and goes rampant), but then IM goes even dumber on the revenge thing.

And remember, Captain America was raised and tempered in World War 2, a VERY different time when the nazis and hydra were around, so yeah...Timeliness isn't as straightforward with that character.  Very important element to him.

That could be a factor... but I would say that our government of today is a lot worse than in WW2, I have less reason to thrust any USA president elect now than any of the XIX century.

Are there even good superhero movies?

If you know of some, tell me and I'll see if I've already watched some of them.

Kickass, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, Hellboy, Dredd and Scott Pilgrim.

I'm just going to recommend Watchman.

Japanese internment camps.

P.S.  1900s were the XX century; if this confuses you, think about which century had the year 042.

Ido know what century is the XIX and that the WW II didn't take part in XIXth century.

I'm just saying that governments of yesterday were better than today. And I said USA not Japan in my answer.

Besides that, internment camp to war prisioner is hardly a crime I would hold against a government of that time (and with that time thinking) when today we have it even worse, like guantanamo.

I meant the USA internment camps of Japanese-descended U.S. citizens, to the tune of 110,000 to 120,000, who were not prisoners of war nor indeed were charged with any crime.  Worse than Guantanamo, even if they weren't treated as badly as the Guantanamo prisoners.

I find it curious that some here are saying this WASN'T a lighthearted popcorn flick. Did we watch the same movie?

Ikr? I can nitpick for hours. The bomb going off inside the tank at the beginning and somehow the black widow made it out unscathed, the whole airport fight could've been avoided, the plane they wanted to board should've been destroyed by the other team and horray! But nope, let's cause some needless destruction left and right, after both teams argued for hours on how to minimize the collateral damage.... smh

You don't want to go down that path with movies like this. Let's just accept them for what they are; popcorn flicks.

I thought it was good. I saw it with some friends a few days ago, but tbh I disliked Captain America's actions. Almost all of us wanted Ironman to kick his ass :P
Ending was also very meh.

Hey, guys. Sorry! I told I'd be back for further discussion but we found an abandoned kitten and decided to adopt her. Be back as soon as I can.

In times of war I would say that was totally justifiable. In Brazil we also had severe restrictions against German, Italian and Japanese during WW2. And even so I would say the USA government of that time was a lot better than today. I fail to see how this camp would show how corrupt and power hungry were the government against today standars.

Are you sure we watched the same movie? You wanted Iron Man to win the fight, imprision their friends and let the villain win and ONU to hold them back and never solve anything?
