Forums - Microsoft - Alright, We Need To Talk About Quantum Break

I played it and enjoyed it and surprisingly really enjoyed the TV episodes along the way, The gun play was great dashing and freezing time from enemy to enemy along with a story that kept me interested all the way though. The biggest downside to me is replay value, I don't see myself ever playing through it again which is also a big concern in long term sales as people buy it 1 week then trade it in the next and this will really hurt its legs.

I'm fine with its meta score of 77 and would rate it a 8/10 myself.

I think we all walked away from Quantum Break feeling like this game needed more. Perhaps more missions, more weapons, more abilities, etc.

But for what it was, I had a blast. I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the combat, I enjoyed exploring the levels to find hidden objects. I personally don't critique games for being short, my concern is did I have a good time during my playthrough. Long games generally pad out the experience with content that isn't compelling.

What he said.

I have like 950gs on it. It took a while for the grave to grow on me but it did and I loved it. Could have done with some stealth, less canon fodder enemies, and maybe a punch button but we judge games by what they offer and this game captivated me for like a week. Great experience, great story, and some great TV episodes--when I finally decided to watch them.

I watched the Angry Joe review after beating it. That guy picks and chooses so badly. I'm really beginning to hate him.

I loved this game and I'm really sad it got such a low meta score. I don't understand some of the low reviews. A 4? What the hell is that?

Some of the comments Joe made about the TV show during his review was very lame. He literally tore the game apart because he simply did not like the story. Its not a story for everyone. He even hated the acting and the acting is some of the best iv seen in a video game.

Angry Joe lost some respect with his review on this game. I wasnt expecting him to love it but some of his comments made me face palm.

I just finished it last night on Normal difficulty and about 85% collected. Playing it again on Hard.

I love this game, not basing this off its graphics but its originality, gameplay, Sound and strong story. Its about a fracture in time which could end everything if not fixed. The powers and gun play is nothing more then amazing.

When you look at Metacritic and see a 77, remember that 4 out of 100 reviewers gave this game a bad score, 4 - 4/10 scores butchered this games meta and its clear this game is far from a broken mess. If those reviews werent counted the game could be sitting in the 8s. Im not here to justify the score because i couldnt care less but those bashing it most likely havnt even played it or own a platform to access it.

Its my best game of 2016 so far. I hope they release a sequal. Looking forward to Alan Wake 2 from Remedy aswell.

Yeah, but pretty much every AAA game has this problem and they still manage to get in the high 80's and 90's. Thats not an excuse. I also happen to have a system to play it, unfortunatly its called a PC and thus far I am not ready to invest in a subpar port.

I will end up playing it one day as I do with every Remedy game, but for everyone whom I heard that they liked the game, there are equal ammount of people who disliked it. SO this one has to contend with a bargain purchase.

So based off 4 negative reviews out of 100 and 2 being 10/10s it comes under a bargain purchase?

This game is not broken or a mess like i stated so any review that placed this under a 5 i wont take serious. Its a Remedy game,  they know what there doing.

The same thing happen to Alan Wake, had alot of mixed reviews yet years later gamers saw that it was actually a gem and many class Alan Wake as there favorite last gen game and that scored in the low 8s.

Dont take Metacritic serious, trust me they havnet been accurate in years.

Here is a list of the top 10 games released in April according to their Meta Score

Dark Souls 3 - 90
Hitman Episode 2 - 87
Dirt Rally - 86
Ratchet & Clank - 86
Tales from Borderlands - 85
Letter Quest - 84
Enter the Gungeon - 84
Severed - 83
The Banner Saga 2 - 83
1979 Revolution - 82

The mandatory 3 honorary mentions go to:

Bravely Second -  81
Battlefleet Gothic - 79
Alienation - 79

I don't understand people saying that Quantum Break has GOTY potential. It's not even a top 10 in the month it released.

Could we just simply call things the way they are? Quantum Break was a cool experiment, but not a very good game.

funny I have absolutely zero interest in 90% of those games, some of them in the top are just utter crap, yeah I'm looking at you dark soul 3... If there is a game we with zero gameplay originality a story line done time and again it's that one... It's. A pile of clichés put together with a cranked up difficulty...

hit man as good as it can be, as nothing really original to it for goty, same with dirt rally etc... A good meta doesn't even come close to representing originality... There tones of deserving high score games that don't qualify for goty even w ith a meta at 99
