Forums - Nintendo - Whatis Nintendo's history with regard to shooters?

he meant nintendo made shooters not, 3rd party shooters

Nintendo makes good shooters like Metroid and Goldeneye, I think Disaster day of crisis would be another excellent shooter

Red Steele was crap...
Far Cry: Instincts was horrible...
Metroid Prime 3 was stunningly amazing!
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 was great

other than that... i can't list anymore shooter games (including fps and third person) that have come out on the Wii.

Disaster: Day of Crisis does not look like a traditional shoter.

Nintendo have not developed many amazing shooters.

Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were both amazing b/c of RARE.

yea... because rare has been so amazing since nintendo stopped guideing them on their games... Retro is the same way, if they left Nintendo for some reason, then I feel they would begin to suck.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

^^Agreed, but I was asking about First-Party games, which is why I specifically stated Goldeneye doesn't count.

 Isn't second party close enough?

We certainly don't consider Kirby or Donkey Kong to be characters foreign to Nintendo.

Anyways, I think Nintendo is successful enough that they don't feel the need to make games in a genre they don't like (remember that Nintendo is a Japanese company, and they're not Capcom).

Shooters aren't "hardcore" games. Actually they are more casual than any other considered "hardcore" genre. Why? They have easy gameplay, and nothing to difficult to grasp about it.

But Nintendo has never really gotten into too many shooters because they are from a different time than the rest. They are before the PC age, where shooters were pretty much not that great. Really wasn't til Doom and Goldeneye 007(published by Nintendo) that the shooter craze came about. I mean Sony wasn't part of that age and you've only seen them recently jump onboard as well.

I'm sure Nintendo will make a shooter of their own sooner or late, seeing that no one counts Metroid Prime. I just hope if they make a shooter it's original, like Metroid Prime was. None of the stereotypical crap we keep getting. Luckily Nintendo is good with setting standards so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

well i seached for nintendo games under the shooter category and 20 results came in

your search has one Wii game...

Link's crossbow training lol

To get one thing straight, I do indeed consider Goldeneye and Prime 'Nintendo' games, and amazing games. I'm just wondering if anyone thinks that they or their current second parties are capable of making games that appeal to this particular, ignorant group of gamers.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

who are their current second parties?
