I love SF64. One of the reasons I love and own every N64 game. I remember SF64 being an amazing game!

Yeah, it is really awesome. But I can't help but think that Zero is a good game too :P. But I really didn't have problems adjusting to the controls, they just felt natural to me. I think that's a big advantage in my case XD.

I just finished the game once. It's a tech demo with shitty controls, and I'm not just talking about the gyro. The walker controls like shit, the landmaster controls like shit, locking on to anything controls like shit, everything using the right analog stick save for turning left or right is a fucking nightmare.

And the level design is incredibly mediocre.

Also, if you've followed this game pre-launch, you've seen everything already. Short of Venom, there were no surprises during my first run. The Andross fight is so bad, forcing you to wrestle with the shitty walker controls in a confined space.

Venom was awesome, and the only example of above average level design in the entire game. Felt like flying through the Death Star.

I cannot get over how much of a dropped ball the walker was. Platinum made VANQUISH! This was their chance to make the walker into this bad-ass gundam-like mecha suit with fast TPS action. Instead, we get this nightmare.

Even on it's own merits, this game is bad. Don't let Nintendo's polish fool you - this may as well be Star Fox's Skyward Sword. An absolute train wreck and a slap in the face to Star Fox fans. This project had absolutely no passion put into it.

SS is the best 3D Zelda btw.

No, it's the worst. Might be the worse Nintendo-made Zelda all together to be honest.

So who is responsible? Platinum or Nintendo?

Nintendo obviously doesn't know how to make a good Starfox game or one that doesn't rely so much on 64. In this case...it seems to be a mixture of both. Granted, Platinum games was the co-developer it might have something to do with them but I highly doubt it. Starfox is a franchise that easily deserves amazing games. Nintendo simply puts their focus on the wrong areas and it ends up falling apart every time.

That being said, I hear the controls are rubbish UNTIL you finally get the hang of them which by some reviewer's words is towards the end of the game. I will buy it because there's nothing else on Wii U right now that's new but I wish Nintendo would make a game that is simple yet effective that doesn't rely on 64 and look like an early PS3 Xb360 game. Still...they steal $60 from my wallet. :(

Haven't gotten my copy yet, but sad to hear its not very good. Kinda had a feeling though. Star Fox fans have a reputation of hating everything in the series not called Star Fox 64. The controls issue seem legit though.

Game with actual challenging combat (instead of B button mashing), some best bosses, some best dungeons and best plot can't be the worst in the series. You insult SS when compares it to SF0.

I love your rants so much XD I'll take your word for it. That sucks though. The SF series deserves better

I'm actually quite enjoying it so far.

The aiming system is growing on me, the music and Gamepad audio chatter are cool, and overall its a nice throwback to the kind of games that don't really get made anymore. With all the Hollywood pretensions and dead-seriousness of modern gaming, its refreshing to get stuck into something more playful and silly.
