This generation is different then the last. Xbox doesn't own North America over PS, and has far less ground in Europe. Every exclusive that sold well on 360 will automatically sell millions less on Xbox One for the sole reason, outside the games control, is that this generations focal point is Playstation 4. Gamer buzz therefore won't be on Gears 4 but the Playstation holiday lineup, exclusive and multiplat alike. This means the game will open less, and have its legs cut off before it should be. Like Halo 5, Gears 4 sales will be less then its 360 counterparts, but will sell less then Halo 5 because its ultra violence is slightly more niche then Halos colorful violence.

Pretty much have to accept this. 

Sad as games like QB had an abysmal launch, so did ROTR and Sunset Overdrive. These games may crawl to 1 or 1.5 mil, but they deserve so much more. 

Halo 5 should be compared more fairly with Halo ODST rather than the main series. That is the only defence I have for it. Awful game. 

As Gears 4 is the launch (a quenstionable one at that) of a new series withe new characters, that too can be compared with Judgment over the other main line games. Not only will it never reach the 6/7 million sales of Gears 1,2 & 3, but I doubt it will even reach 2 mil. 

2 million for gears 4? I can see it doing double that easily...



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Yes i think it can, but lot of things Can happen... The Gears of War Series in term of Launch breaked it's peak with Gears of War 3, which sold Over 3 million worldwide First week, and Over 2 million First 2 weeks in The US.

With Judment, The Series is dropped like a rock to barely Over 600K Sold First 3 weeks in USA, though This massive Drop was expect... Because... We all know.

Halo Series is dropped hardly with Halo 5, but was already on The Drop with Halo 4.


Final consideration, well... I believe Halo 5 will Sell ~6 million lifetime, and Gears ~5 million.

So i still Say Halo will Sell more, but not by a huge margin... And i hope to be wrong honestly, cause i like Gears WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than Halo.

Fans of the Gears of War series are really hungry for a great new mainline game in the series no doubt, It will definatly bring in a good amount of the croud that jumped 360 - PS4 for the nostalgia and who probably had a 360 in the first place because of Gears of War :)

I have no doubt it will be a lot closer this gen and no outselling of 2-1 and 1.5-1 like Halo 3 and Halo 4 did through the 360 era.

How, that's sure, they are gonna be pretty damn close. I expect a drop in sales for Gears of War 4, just because Gears 3 has sold very nice.

Though the drop won't be so much big as for Halo 5 compared to Halo 4.

I thank Halo V will continue to sell well and through the years. However, both recent Halo launches: Master Chief Collection and Halo V have suffer from launch issues. I don't think Microsoft will allow that to happen again. They should be fairly familiar with the system and DirectX 12 by now.

I think bad word of mouth at launch times has hurt Halo (and Assassin's Creed). It kills the buzz, and I think results in a say 20-30% decrease in sales for the week, which translates in to significantly overall loss in sales.

So I think Gears of War 4 may have a better launch than Halo - as I think it will have an amazing launch. The Beta feedback has been good too. But in the long run Halo will do better as it is just a bigger world and a much more involved story (with books, movies, etc.)

Microsoft needs a Wow! fall launch, and this is a big chance. I



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

I think that Gears 4 will flop even harder than Halo 5. The Xbox brand just seems like its on its last legs. And this is coming from a guy whose sworn allegiance to Xbox since 2002.

Your wrong. Gears 4 will outsell gears 3 when it comes to lifetime.

Seriously? Last legs? Lol lets pretend that the WiiU isn't a thing and that Xbox One wont outsell the original Xbox this year. Even if ps4 does 150 million, if Xbox one does 40-50, that is still up there with other great consoles of the past and is no way a failure if successful in its own right. 

Seriously people tend to exaggerate things to extremes nowadays, it's either your a success or a failure, there is no in between. Again just weird you said that when the WiiU will likely be discontinued on its 4th year.
