You've never played a PC game optimized for your CPU either.
They used to be back in the DOS era, those games run quite differently on faster CPUs.

As a technical QA, the issues really only depend on SDK implementation.

These aren't 2 code bases. It's one code base with a few extra features turned on.

I would tell my team to hit the ps4 version first, and regression / functional test the integration points of the new features. Lastly, I'd pay some cheap game testers to run through the game fully as an end to end test. In the end 15-25% more qa time.

PS2 wasn't a PS1 addon.

This is almost getting as bad as the NX rumors. I guess it isn't helped by Sony not denying the whole thing. Probably means there is some truth to it. I really wouldn't like this if it turns out true.

I guess anything will come out clean after being subjected to the spin machine. A hardware revision is a hardware revision, I don't care how they wish to dress it up. It is bad for my bottom line, my pocket.

Sure you cans blast that I'm poor and hence, its okay, but you would be wrong. I'm just stingy. I rather not have to be subjected to have an inferior model when I was under the perception that I wouldn't have to upgrade until another 4-5 years.

It leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. You know, the one where you've feel like someone taking advantage of you just becomes they can.

I cant recall being able to play PS2 games on PS1 :)

And you won't be able to play PS5 games on the PS4.5 ;)

Here's the million dollar question I guess.

If in 2013 when sony announced the PS4 and said $399. They had said sometime later that year that in 3-4yrs when 4k becomes more affordable they will be releasing a 4k version of the same PS4 and that it would probably cost a lot more than whatever the base PS4 cost at the time. How would all of you feel?

The PS4K is clearly just a PS4 that supports 4k output. And will allow for streaming apps to also output in 4k. Ah well.....

Whoever did this first would no doubt have gotten flak for it. All that matters is that they do it right. The industry will adjust. or if people dont like it, they can just switch to PC gaming. at least there they womt have to worry about upgrades..... oh.. wait.
