Sony already said 2018 when they shown the PS4 on february 2013 (they talked about a 5 year cycle before the release of the next hardware if I remember well).
Since this time they may have changed their plan, but I don't believe rumors about the PS4K Neo.

Neo is confirmed. But I don't think they've changed their plan. I believe the PS5 is going to be released in 2018/2019, despite of the Neo. Welcome to the iCrap console generation. Apple gets away with releasing a new interaction every year, Sony will try to do the same here.

Hum... no, not yet until Sony talks about it. I think I will have a good laugh when this will come ^^

Yeah, PS5 for end of 2018 according to me.

2019 or 2020.

If its really a 4tf console, then 2020 for PS5 at the earliest. I see the PS4OG getting the baseline slowly bumped down (900-720p) with Neo maxing out system abilities. The Neo is basically a contract extension for PS4 lol.

I'd say that the NEO's sole purpose is to hold developers over until Sony has a chance of releasing a new console, so I'd say 2018, but it might be able to extend the PS4's life another year or so. Who knows?

bet: lost

What makes you think developers want this? How does this make their lives easier?

I didn't say developers want this. Neither did I say that it makes their life any easier. But what, do you think that Sony is releasing this because the consumer wants this?

Well you did say this was to hold developers over. That means this is aimed towards them.

I feel like PS4K will delay PS5's launch by 1 year. So I'm guessing 2019 for PS5 now.

Exactly what I was going to say.

I'll go with 2020.

Yeah, because it is aimed towards them. But whether something is aimed towards them is not necessarily their decision. That's on Sony.

Developers have always known that the PS4 was underpowered. But Sony really should've just waited until they had the chance to release the PS5 instead of dividing everyone over this hardware revision (even devs) that didn't need to happen.
