VG$ is ruining the forums. Far too many new threads on far too many stupid topics. Seems to be just to increase the # of posts and the amount of VG$. Maybe the forums have always been vapid wastelands with the odd good thread and I was just not as picky a reader, but it really does seem like the quality of the posts has dropped significantly? I can't think of any really good solutions, but maybe having a pentaly for starting a thread and then getting vg$ for each follow up to the thread (so starting a very popular thread = more vg$ for thread starter, while starting a bad thread = loss of vg$)

a few people are taking advantage of it. but only a few...

I say instead of 'giving out' VGC money for thread starter, you TAKE money from them. So only people who feels strongly about something (or something worth posting) will post.

The activity on the forums is slow enough already, why make it worse.

 No, you lose money for starting a thread, but you still gain for posting in other peoples.

 That will discourage useless threads, while encourage others to post in just one.

So what if you don't like the threads, deal with it, these are Internet forums not a dictatorship and if you expect every post to be well written it won't be, deal with that to. Maybe some people like threads about what you have to do to get into heaven and forums shouldn't force people to have a certain quality to their posts. I rubbish both your ideas.

The problem is VG$ (as it is currently implimented) is PROMOTING bad threads, or multiple threads on the same subject.

I have two possible suggestions to combat this problem.

1) No vg$ for starting threads in the off-topic forum.

2) If your thread is locked you lose twice as much vg$ as you gained for starting it.

 Well, who is to determine what threads to lock?

 Honestly, I rather lose 5 bucks to start any of my thread, because I feel that it's something I want to discuss. Not just a way to gain money.
