Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo hold a press conference at this year's E3 to enveil Codename NX?

I don't really care how its unveiled, just show the damn thing.

Nintendo will probably make two Direct conferences. One to explain what the NX is and what does it do, and the other to announce the games. But if they do that, they'll have to expand that Treehouse stream, because they are going to need a lot of footage of the NX and how does it play.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I prefer Directs over conferences, but hardware is usually revealed in a conference and Nintendo said when they started with the Directs that they could come back to the old format.

I think they'll do a conference because they need to get as much media support as they can, but I hope they find a good alternative.

Please excuse my bad English.

I would prefer that Nintendo not announce it at E3 or any of the other big conventions. The news will get all muddled with everything else. They should do their own independent even for the unveiling. Preferably before, so they can show off games during all of the convention season.

Definitely before Gamescom by the latest.

Ugh... difficult to say for a hardware reveal. With a Digital Event, they are able to do this the way whatever they actually want to without interrupts or technical issues.
A press conference would show the physical device and the features being demonstrated live infront of the audience.

I still go for the Digital Event. They are awesome. After Robot Chicken and Muppets... what could they do next?

Also.. showing a teaser some weeks before E3 would be pretty much generate some hype and discussion. Maybe some tech demo's and a certain key feature of the device.

Iwata said that they are doing Digital Events instead of a conference because they don't have new hardware to announce. Therefore, I would bet Nintendo will have a press conference this year.

Depends on whether they really are going to fully unveil it in the first place.

Maybe they'll just do a bit of a tease, similar to bringing a black Wii without the remote to E3 2005.

In that case, they might as well do it in the broadcast.

Yeah, I forgot about that detail.  If that's the case, then I'll be expecting a conference at E3 (though I still would rather just have a direct).
