Being number one in an empty week like that is not réally an achievement big enough to talk about à successful launch.

I think thé game flopped and will struggle to even reach one million in à month.

Its possible the game will flop, it looks like a risky project.

However, Alan Wake was profitable in spite of selling just over 500k in 10 weeks. Depends on the budget but I get the impression Remedy does good work with a smaller budget than many studios

Anyhow, somebody at MS claimed pre orders were great so maybe it will have a solid start.

I dont think AW costs as much as QB much more technical + coming with à TV show staring very expensive actors. ( same problème than beyond , it's à a lot of money just for 3-4 people)

Imo they shouldnt have put a budget in à serie, i read  somewhere that the budget was very high because of that when they announced it , it must be à big hole in thé budget of the game and because of that, it might not be profitable.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

The game doesn't have a multiplayer, so that would drive down costs. But it also has a pretty notable cast, and was in development for way longer than it was supposed to be.

Alan Wake also had a long development but profitted with relatively low sales.

Its possible thia game will struggle to make a profit, but I think MS knew that going in. Part of the reason they were open to a PC version.

Well bear in mind the money spent on actors isnt the same as TV/movies. Also, the actors in QB arent as famous as those in Beyond.

The TV series stuff is pretty low budget. It looks like a sci-fi channel show. Its some of the best live acting we've seen in a video game but it doesent scream big budget.

I dont think it has to be a mega seller to break even. But hey games like this are risky, this wouldnt be the first time a game lost money.

Let's see some sales figures over the first month or so before we deem it a success.

I don't think anyone is saying the game will be a success just that this week it did well enough to top games that have already been released beforehand. I think the digital sales for big games continue to grow. This one included

Downplaying this hard is magical.

They also wonder why xbox fans tend to keep to themselves in the Republic thread. Most threads end like this.

Struggle to reach a million in a month a flop? It is magical. I want powers like this.
