Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers rumor: Zelda U to have a playable female, fully voice acted, releasing NX and Wii U

Nathan Drake is a pretty gritty male character though. It's central to the character's persona.

Link has always been very effiminate and andrognous, akin to Peter Pan where is a mute avatar basically for the player with no distinct personality.

I mean half the Link cosplayers are women and no one bats an eyelash.

This is a woman dressed up as Link. Looks like ... Link.

Women make the best Link cosplayers because the character is so effeminate to begin with.

Link isn't effeminate or androgenous and neither is Peter Pan. They're youthful. Nathan doesn't look gritty. He looks the way a fully grown fit man is supposed to look like.

Well they said they going back to Zelda roots with Zelda U.

It would make me so happy. The current Zelda canon is a convoluted mess.

You know, this trend of FORCING women into main roles is really just... I'm starting to get to the point where I am avoiding any media where I feel that practice has taken place. It's one thing for an artist to say, hey, I want to tell a story about a girl or woman and another thing entirely when corporate suits, who don't give a fuck about anything game related start talking PC correctness for the sake of buzz or capitalizing on current trends.

Art that is tampered with is no longer art imo. It's product.

Maybe Aonuma felt like it? I don't think they are forcing anything. It was not a resounding request amongs Nintendo fans actually (not that I know at least).

I have no issues with the other character's in the game having voices... however Link needs to remain voiceless. Its something unique about his character and is sort of enables the individual player to better imagine themselves AS Link.

I would prefer Link remained consistently male since he has been in EVERY iteration buttt that's not the end of the world. I would consider the voice a bigger issue if they forced players/Link to have one.

As someone who wishes to be on blackout for this game, I feel kinda dirty coming in here, but I guess it can't be helped since the info is all on the title. I kind of wish this sort of info would be left out so I wouldn't be spoiled to it.

Anyways, I'm not against any of this. Nothing dictates that Link must be a man, voice acting would be pretty sweet, and Wii U or NX, I'll be buying the game. It's at least good they still have a Wii U version for those still waiting/hesitant to get an NX.

VA is suprising, but not something I really care about it. Multiplat with NX was expected.

But being able to choose your character's gender? Now this is awesome news.

When given the choice, I prefer to play as female characters, so if this is true, I look forward to playing as female Link.

Also, if Emily Rogers says it, I'm inclined to believe it.

I've been following her work for a while, and she's very reliable when it comes to this sort of thing. She called Paper Mario for Wii U months before it was revealed.

Apparently Emily thinks that it's just a female playable character and not Fem!Link, if that's the case then I'm perfectly OK with it lol.

That's fine I'd be cool with that too.

Aonuma definitely addicted to Hyrule Warriors. I do not expect playable female Link, but bunch of playable characters which you can switch any time during gameplay sections. Maybe some local co-op feature.
