Replaying the game since 9 hours ago, I have come to a conclusion.

It's actually the only 3D Mario game. For years we saw Nintendo trying to do something that does not fit in the Mario Universe. But now they realize what is Mario and translated in a Wii U blockbuster exclusive: 3D World.

Full of neat ideas, completely original and with a competent multiplayer system, it shaked not only the stale Mario formula, but the Wii U audience with its brilliant design and fun inmersion.

The only pain now is wait for a direct sequel that tries to surpass it.

I came here expecting an April fools thread. Not because I didn't like it, but because people complain about it so often

4 player couch-coop is a win for me. So yes it's the best 3D Mario for me as well.

April Fools doesn't work when what you're saying is mostly true.

I still prefer Galaxy, but 3D World gets so much unnecessary flack it's crazy. People calling it "not a true 3D Mario" and all this other nonsense, it's beyond nuts. 3D World is my second favorite Wii U game after XCX.
