Today Microsoft announced that starting this summer (and today with a preview build) every developer will be able to turn an Xbox One into a development kit via a simple registration process.

During its Build developer conference in San Francisco, the house of Xbox demonstrated the capability, based on the DevMode app, and you can see it in action below.

While this is VERY cool there are some caveats:

- Only allowed access to 1GB of RAM (out of the X1's 8 total)
- People may occasionally run into issues running retail games
- In order to get out of dev mode, the console has to be completely reset (clearing everything)
