Was it the first? No, but few things that get credit for being the first are actually the first. The first console to play CDs and have cd games? Most people on here say it's the PS1, but it was the Sega CD. The same thing as the console that introduced prerendered cutscenes. Sega CD, not playstation.

That being said, while they may not have been what introduced them, they are the first to have a lot of big budget AAA games utilize them as the primary input for controls. (Which only applies to Nintendo.)

People don't give credit when they haven't seen the concept in action they only remember past efforts for most part, PS1 didn't take off because of CDs for one it took off because of the console's overall execution, PS1 was written off by many media outlets at the time who expected Sega to bury Sony. Fast forward today people will only speak in retrospective of how great the PS1 was.

It's no different to what you're doing now, you're speaking on concepts and so on after they have taken off and made a mark when at the time no one saw the potential in the concepts due to past efforts.

No, I'm saying there is no presented new concepts.... Which is kind of the exact opposite.

You mentioned platforms which weren't new concepts either, what was different was the overall execution which couldn't be fathomed from leaks and rumours, that's the point.

Honestly how good has NXT been!

It was new in the sense of mainstream gaming.

Having success doesn't mean it's new, it gained mainstream success because of the execution.

If it's the first time most people have played the experience, than the experience is new to them. How many people played a true deep motion control game before Red Steel or Skyward Sword?

That's not how being new works mate, new is exactly as the word implies not done before, you can be innovative with a concepts that's done before but you can't be new with it. New is not defined by how many people bought into the concept before.

Still it's a new experience for gamers, which is what is needed.

JEMC said:This pretty much confirms a 2016 release (for those who still doubt it). What this does not confirm or deny is if NX will have an optical drive or use cards, as Macronix does the DS/3DS cards but also provides the flash memory of Wii U.

How Nintendo will handle memory storage will be interesting to see. I belive they will be cheap/conservative and just have a basic amount of some sort of flash memory (my guess is 128GB -> less than $30) in the console.

It will also be interesting if they continue with discs or if they go to cartridges or even make it only download (with download stations in shops - see link below).

EDIT: Here is the iQue version of download kiosk:
