Imo this is one of those games you should play via emulation (dolphin) in 1920x1080p (or higher) and with improved custum texture packs.
Its a great game, but the Wii wasnt able to really show its full glory.
It looks and runs much better now via emulation.
I think 480p still looks amazing. I am going to take a lot of flack for this but I think it was a mistake for the gaming industry to rush beyond the 480p resolution so quickly because all we got was marginally better looking games and exponentially longer development timelines. Episodic releases, Day 1 DLC, micro-transactions and all the things that are ruining games today can all find their source in the monstrous development budgets that games require to become satisfying at 900p/1080p. I miss the days when we would get a Metroid Prime or Baten Kaitos game every 2 years.
While Xenoblade Chronicles itself was not the best looking game at the time, in a technical aspect it was amazing, and managed to push the Wii to its fullest, and it's gameplay and story is good as well. Recommend everyone to at least give this game a chance

Agreed. The experience on Dolphin is just excellent.
Far from the best looking game, but it certainly did push the Wii to its limit, and is still rather impressive for what it is.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Do you know the specs needed to run this game at 720/1080p and a locked 30 FPS?

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

check this out:

^ This (above) is 1080p Xenoblade running on dolphin. It doesnt really require that fast a PC to run like this.
this is the 3DS version (picture below):

Theres no reason to spend more time or a higher budget, just because of resolution.
They could easily make a Xenoblade HD version that d be a peice of cake for the PS4 or Xbox One to run, and they wouldnt even need to change any assets from the org. game. They could just "upscale" it to a higher resolution, like dolphin does
I wait for the day citra is advanced enough to render the game in 1080p, then they should compare.
