personally, i think rockband is far far better then guitar hero. i got to play with my family over christmas and it was a blast.

yes, the guitar parts are (on the whole) easier then guitar hero 3, but it's not really a game about one instrament. it's supposed to be a group based experience where everyone can have fun no matter what they're playing.

im not a guitar hero master (i can do about half the songs on hard) so the difficulty seemed just fine for a gamer like myself.

Yeah, lol, but I guess I'm a "hardcore" guitar hero 3 guy. I'm dedicated myself for weeks of my time to that game, alone, in the dungeon of my room, hehe.

I definately see the advantages of playing with others in this type of party game, but for me and my brother, GH3 became a competition, and I PWND his sorry ass at it, and I've been skeptical of Rock Band for a while, so I didn't go in with an open mind, you guys are right.

I'm never gonna diss Guitar Hero though, the tracks and the difficulty, OMG ORGASM! I still freakin' love playing that game, foreva!!!

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It's like I'm Daniel Day-Louis from There Wii be Blood, with my brother:

haha, fair enough.

I just youtubed the Rock Band version of Run to the Hills, and it's a cover! They ruined the song, especially the vocals.

Its cool, no one is forcing you to like one game or the other better.  They both offer a very unique experience.  I have to say that I just didn't like the "feel" of Guitar Hero as much after another dev team took over the game.  Just something about it seemed different.  It didn't seem to be about the music anymore man!

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. rock band destroys guitar hero 3 easily

Guitar Hero 3 is harder on parts just for the sake of being hard. GH2 was far far better IMO.

Rock Band is focused on providing a fun 4-player experience, and it nails that beautifully.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Hmmm, a game with one instrument is better with that instrument than a game with three? Surprising. ;)

If you're looking for a challenge, you could try learning the drums. Get out of your comfort zone.
