Forums - Nintendo - Images of the NX Controller Surfaces!

As I understand the patent your thumbs never has to leave the pads and they can be used as buttons when you move in a certain direction.

Thats the main console controller? Huh.

I can live with that. What's the console do?

I really don't see functionally how this is any different from the existing Wii U GamePad ... except it doesn't have buttons. There's nothing gameplay wise you can do that a Wii U Game Pad couldn't do ... I just don't see the point of doubling down on an already failed idea. Yeah it looks "sleeker" ... but so what?

Sometimes the packageing of things make all the differnce in the world.

This looks alot better than the gamepad, its thin and "sleek" as you say, probably lighter too.

Nintendo are just giveing it another go, with the gamepad.

Hopefully this console, has better marketing and name, and better games lineup at launch.

It could still do really well, its to early to doom it just because the controller lacks physical buttons. Even if many here are.

I wonder who that controller is aimed for. Certainly doesn't make NX any enticing for me.

I'm starting to work on this theory that Nintendo, seeing what happened with motion controls after the Wii, will try by itself to take down the mobile market.

Let me explain: Nintendo will force us into digital buttons that feel great (for the first few years) but on the long run people will start getting anoyed by the touch controls meaning that less and less people will be buying smartphones. It's at that point that Nintendo will release an all new Handheld, basically a beefed up GBA that'll sell bilions !!

If its realy the real thing why is it so hard for Nintendo to put 4 real buttons on it, omg facepalm.

These are just superficial changes though (for something that's functionally worse). This is all flash, no function.
