Still sounds terrible to me. If this thing is seriously the nx controller then it will be the first Nintendo console I don't buy

Weird.  You have no idea what the games will be and yet you won't buy it.  Did you buy a Wii?  This seems far more core-gamer oriented.

It looks so bad that I don't even care any longer which games Nintendo will make for this thing. I love their games, but that's just terrible.

Good post but I think the primary issues still remain.

How do the virtual buttons feel?
Whats going on with anlogue?
Where are the triggers?

In the end its a waiting game for the systems actual reveal, but I really hope they include 2 face buttons for their own sake.

P.S: Simplicity wasn't the Wii's defining point, motion controls were. The simplicity just aided the execution. I hope theres more going on with the console then just a more sleek gamepad.

This could be the next Wiimote indeed. I agree with your analysis. If this is one is well thought-out it could be a game changer.

The Wiimote wasn't a huge success simply because it was simple. It had the whole novelty of motion gaming, get up and move that dramatically altered the gameplay experience.

This controller ... doesn't change anything. It's just another version of the Wii U's existing failed controller but without buttons. There's nothing big about it that's new ... a touchscreen ... yeah ... like every other device, that's not going excite people.

I don't see any new type of gameplay experience coming from this controller that the current Wii U tablet couldn't do.

The thing sucks because it's basically just an inferior gamepad.

Smaller obstructed screen <<<<<< bigger unobstructed screen
Nubs <<<<<<<<<<< Sticks
Touchscreen buttons <<<<<<<<<<< Physical Buttons

Believe it or not, flat controllers are not hard to hold.  This worked fine:

And no one had a problem holding the Wii Remote sideways for games.

I like your analysis but I'm still unsure of how it will be adopted and utilized by third party developers with the severe lack of physical buttons... I'm cautiously optimistic about this and I will try anything once but I just hope Nintendo does this right.

Also, on a side note, judging from the new photos it doesn't look very comfortable to hold... they really need to add some handles on that thing!  Besides that I love how it looks.

Assuming it comes with attachable handles with triggers (like the Wiimote had the nunchuck) I think it would work fine for virtually all games like COD.  Virtual buttons would work fine for functions like duck, reload, etc.

In fact, it could work better than say an XBox One, since the bottons could be around the right stick.  Touch above it to reload, right for duck, tec.

Dunno about you, but I've never seen a touchscreen that's round with holes.  In action it could look pretty new and high tech.

Also, it's better than the Gamepad because it's far easier to touch the screen without moving your hand from the stick position.  With the Gamepad you had to essentially stop what your doing and look down.  Interactive areas here could be right on top of the sticks, eliminating a major flaw from Wii U.

Awesome.  It's real, and it's beautiful.

This controller scares the hell out of me. I am much more worried about Nintendo going bankrupt thanks to this controller than the Wii U production being halted. Or this controller suceeding and becoming industry standard egh..

I love it. Looks like such a fresh experience.
