The Wiimote wasn't a huge success simply because it was simple. It had the whole novelty of motion gaming, get up and move that dramatically altered the gameplay experience.
This controller ... doesn't change anything. It's just another version of the Wii U's existing failed controller but without buttons. There's nothing big about it that's new ... a touchscreen ... yeah ... like every other device, that's not going excite people.
I don't see any new type of gameplay experience coming from this controller that the current Wii U tablet couldn't do.
