Dunno about you, but I've never seen a touchscreen that's round with holes. In action it could look pretty new and high tech.
Also, it's better than the Gamepad because it's far easier to touch the screen without moving your hand from the stick position. With the Gamepad you had to essentially stop what your doing and look down. Interactive areas here could be right on top of the sticks, eliminating a major flaw from Wii U.
