Wiimotes are terrible for smash. Saying it's a step up from that if like saying a Prius would be a better racecar than a mini van

In your opinion.  A poster above is saying it's their go-to.

The poster above really is a small minority i mean just look at the competive scene when the hell has any more hardcore player used a wiimote?

Please, no virtual buttons...

No, that thing is a mock up no doubt. Virtual buttons and thumbsticks obscuring the screen gave it away.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and kept waiting for that revelation that would tilt me in your favor, but no, this would be terrible.

I certainly hope they prove me wrong but, if this is the controller, I'll be seriously disappointed.

New leak of their controller/handheld hybrid

I'm sure all those third parties that this system desperately needs will be willing to fiddle with virtual buttons.

Wait no, I'm lying.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

So we should be looking forward to play Super Mario Bros. without a d-pad, third parties are going to embrace this interface despite not bothering with the Gamepad that was a lot closer to a DualShock than this "leaked" controller, and somehow all of this is also in the same spirit as the Wiimote.

There's an easy way around that - just make the control slider a transforming d-pad like on the newer xbox 360 controllers. When switched to d-pad mode, it would be locked to sliding around.

I think that'd be an elegant solution - as most games you either use a left analog or left d-pad to move, but very, very seldom both. Also, this way the "dpad" would remain centered to button inputs and the right control stick - providing superior comfort.

It helps clean up what's typically a cluttered, misused/unused set of inputs. I always hate it in games when I'm moving with the left stick and the left d-pad has some other functions that I ultimately don't like using because it's not as simple to tap/reach as buttons on the right side of the controller. This NX controller deals away with that problem completely by allowing you customize button mappings.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

This controller is a concept, nothing more at the moment. If the NX controller looks anything remotely like this, Nintendo can kiss the home console market goodbye. I love that Nintendo isn't saying anything about it. They're like, "Let them be all over this piece of shit, and we'll blow em away with the reveal". You know they're saying that behind closed doors. XD

I have been a fan of the concept since the patent reveal. Its more versatile than any other controller ever so it qould suit more games... except platformers and fighters. Those games are optimal with a d-pad on my view but I know that most gamers today never use the d-pad for any game so it might not be a big thing actually :).

There should be an option in your poll to choose 2-3-4-5 together because if that leaked picture is really the controller then that is what I would choose.

Edit - Has to be said, if this is the controller they're going with then as others said, 3rd parties are going to have issues porting games onto it from the X1 and Ps4 and that means it will see the same support as the Wii-U.
