That actually doesn't necessarily discount what Nikkei reported. Nikkei is saying Wii U production will halt within the year end, Nintendo doesn't actually deny that point.

If Nintendo halts Wii U production in say September of this year ... then technically what the Nintendo rep is saying isn't false. They also don't directly say Nikkei is false from the actual quote given.

Yes that was what I read on neogaf.

To me that sounds like PR crafted wording to basically speak around the truth.

"this isnt an announcement from our company".

That doesnt sound like nintendo is denying anything to me.

Which doesnt mean the rumor isnt true, just that they wont confirm it to be so.

I dont speak japanese, so I cant confirm it, but it seems like alot of news sources are just running with "nintendo denied" when that might not be true.

Also companies lie.

Yeah exactly. Cleverly they don't actually deny what Nikkei reported outright, all they are saying is production won't stop in the next two quarters, which is certainly within the year, which is what Nikkei stated.

Still it's shameful how they straightly lie, they really take their buyers for dumb people and have no respect, they should just ignore the leak.

Dont act like this is a Nintendo thing, all, major companies do it. Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Samsung, they all deny rumors until they want to announce them.

Sony didn't deny the ps4k. They just don't care.

He's not acting like it is a Nintendo thing. He's letting you know that the so-called saint savior or gaming, worshipped as godly under Yamauchi's watch, isn't any better than most other gaming company. Unlike what most hardcore Nintendo fans will want you to belive.

But that's factually wrong. They have done some things, even in recent times, that make them at least slightly better than other companies in that regard. They're not saints but they're not 100% bad either.

I don't know what to think... true is Nintendo isn't producing Wii U anyway in Japan. so this is kind already happened.

Nintendo always denies legit things like this. Remember how they promised to support the Wii and GBA after their successors arrived? Or how there will be no 3DS XL (also a Nekkei report)? Or how they'll never do mobile? Or how there will be no n3DS in the west? It's all just PR to prevent the sales from falling.
Regardless, i hope they know what they're doing. Competing with both PS4 and smartphones is pretty ridiculous competition..

Why would it stop someone from getting a Wii U? Pikmin 3 is a 30$ game now,it's the perfect time to jump in.

Gamers are weird...
