Maybe Wii mini's, I'm note sure. Those are still being sold at least so yes, the Atari situation also crossed my mind.

NX- 2016 (MAYBE 2017)

Guys this isn't exactly a shocker. Nintendo has always followed a 5 year cycle for their consoles, and it adds up. Assuming that production will stop at the end of the year, 2017 could be the effective "end" of the WiiU. However even in worst case, we are still looking at a 4 year cycle at least. Considering that the WiiU has underperformed, a 4 year cycle still barely falls short of Ninty's ave life cycle.

This should be a suprise to no one and all the doom and gloom surrounding it is laughable. It is time to move to the next Nintendo console. I am ready, Ninty is ready, and the time is right by historical standards of the company. Just get ready for NX and hope they learn from their mistakes. This is the start of a new era for Nintendo and I am excited to see what they have to offer.

Nah I'm not surprised though, everything's been pointing in NX's direction for a while now. And it's indeed totally understandable.

Iwata said that Nintendo will make Wii U owners happy of owning Wii U and give them what they want. Aonuma said that Zelda will launch exclusively on Wii U. They don't betraying Wii U owners, they gave their support for Wii U, almost all their teams released game for Wii U and we had/will have almost every bigger IP on Wii, but despite that Wii U is still selling terrible, there is no point continue beating dead horse, if they wait more with Wii U Nintendo becoming just more relevant on console market, it time to move on.

All this is very expected, but yet you refuse to believe even possible for something like that, even all signs were telling opposite and all that make sense.

Even if they move on to what ever NX is.. They could still release games on the WiiU..

There could also be more splatoon-like games on WiiU..

NX wont replace WiiU.. (I cant see what that should mean) but is he meant.. we will still support WiiU.. it could still be true..

Point is.. Nintendo know that selling WiiU is a strugle.. and want to move on to NX.. But they also know that the core Nintendo fans would expect atleast 5 years of support.. So what can they do..

EASY.. :) They move on to NX.. and keep launch games that can Run on WiiU.. on WiiU for few years.. all happy.. :)

Wii U like platform is dead, there is no point to through additional resources on dead platform when they will have complete new platform.They will release on Wii U only what they already announced for Wii U.
