For the 10 people who voted console gamers, perhaps these products will change your mind...

Rail Driver

Microsoft Sidewinder

Ergodex DX1

OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator

Intel Wireless Game Pad

Thrustmaster Fragmaster

Interact poolshark

Nostromo speedpad ( I actually like these)

Steel Series (tobii) eye tracking system

And there are so many more...

I would say its more of brand loyalty and/or the games that the console has to offer. Would be willing to buy say a Wii U because of the games rather than the 'gimmicks' it has to offer

But in that sense, I guess you could say that console gamers are more open to them..

What the hell is a OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator? And a Thrustmaster Fragmaster (I feel the name is somewhat NSFW)? XD

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, there's lots of such products, but how many of them were successful?

How many were 1/10th as successful as the Wii for example.

None. Well maybe a few were about 1/8th as successful. And I'm willing to bet a few of them were at least 1/2 as successful as the Wii U gamepad. But the sheer number of them proves there are markets for gimmicky controllers on PC.

For the record I don't think either demographic likes gimmicks anymore than the other. Just wanted to point out that there is no shortage of gimmicks for the KB+M gamer crowd.

The light and touchpad on the DS4 is also a gimmick ;)

Sure. As I said, neither demographic has a claim over the most gimmicks.

Also, I'd like to add that there isn't anything inherently wrong with gimmicks either.

No, as I'd class F2P and ''early access'' as gimmicks and they are more popular concepts on PC.

VR is a gimmick yes, but in terms of technology, if it works it could be a game changer.

Since when is VR a gimmick?

It would only be if it were made by Nintendo it seems...
