Forums - Sony - A Humorous Advantage of Playstation VR over OculusRift & HTC Vive

"Dude this has NOTHING to do with AR. You are not AUGMENTING REALITY in anyway. This is just STANDARD VR.

AR means you augment a live feed of the real world with something computer generated. If you have the PSVR HMD on you can't see your hands anyway so you wouldnt Augment ANYTHING"

Oh my..you cannot see AR effects without a TV screen, who says it have to be AR having to be your Room.? Its putting a overlay over the controller because you are using still using playstation move controllers in real life..projecting to a screen can be anything.

The effects of AR is its projected on a screen, you could not see the AR over lay with out a screen..duh, thus the ps4 puts the AR overlay and projects that image onto your PSVR in VR and its by the way 3D..so again how is that not

I do in fact understand what both are, it seems you cannot understand what the effect can be done in VR with playstation Move using AR overlays over the playstation Move . inside VR the effects is you know you are holding the playstation move but the effects of VR means that since the external is tracking in real time AR effects and visual effects could be placed in VR.

I can see you dont.. :)

There is not any "Move overlay" there is Move/cam used to keep track a where the hands/controller are.

I tried VR.. 20... yes 20 years ago.. and even then I saw 2 guns in my hands.. VR is this way.. (AR is when you put some over the real world.. not in virtual world)

This is how "real"  VR work.. and the other sets (mayby not Gear VR at the moment) also has tracking of hands/controller..  (when you know where the hands is.. its up to the game/software devs.. to use that.. and show a tennis racket.. dildo.. what ever in your hands)

https://youtu.be/32ve8LhKFG

Your saying that's not AR?

Because it is..if you make a circle with the move controller can that external camera send a image to your. PSVR?

Remember the PSVR is a display 1st and foremost.

You do not think it can?

Offcourse it can..

Its my point.. its part of VR.. why is it so hard to understand. :)

Look at this video of oculus DK2 (and leap motion)..  do you think its hard to show some other than hands.. lets say a gun..?

And as I pointed out the design of how the camera observes that optical focus light creates areas to overlay its AR ..you think That OculusRift circular hoop motion control wands with its sensor array on their motion control is like that of the playstation moves design for optical light focus seeing its design is spherical light focus tracking.

Instead, of how the design for OculusRift focus points are.

For instance with OculusRift touch controller's they are IR, while playstation Move are multi color LED's

Point is.. 1to1 hand/controller tracking can be done with other things than what move use..

A 6 year old game for the wii.. Red steel 2 put a sword (responding 1to1 to any movenment with the wii-mote+) in you hand.

If you still dont understand that 1to1 hand/controller tracking can be done otherwise.. I cant help you.. just wait and see..

You are focusing on what it can do , but not what it cannot do, but what playstation moves can do.

Example..those IR lights cannot change color right?..that means with the fact Sony's Playstation move does by using multicolor that can be a way for the system to determine certain effects based on color.

Again has the OculusRift been showing any draw to life AR functionality used in any real element of product shown in demonstration let alone full games?

The point is , Sony has..and they Oculus have not.

So if you should have another weapon/effects.. Then the move controller change color.. and then the cam see that change.. and then tell the game do some?

Why would it not just tell the game direct.. its the same machine.. I cant see  what you mean..  tall? :)

This is from Oculus rift own side.. Tracked controllers bring your hands into VR and take your experience to another level.

Over and out.. (And I do look very much forward to PSVR)

Because like have you ever seen the wizard demo where you make gestures and it creates AR effects, tie in with color. That only changes if you make the right gesture.. So each time you get the right color change if the gesture is right to get that color, it may get off set colors even if the gestures was not exactly right in the right order. Your effect can go off in game, skill of the player..this could be blocking position of a sword or shield.. The color could determine how well it blocks certain attacks if your off.

Yes but that has nothing to do with AR. They are tracking the controller gestures.
